Thats a big stall for a street driven car... Is there any reason for that? Or is it just to be hektic?

ran 4500-4800's behind V8's, I don't recomend for regualar street use, moreso for just a tough weekend cruiser/drag car

yeah i also wouldn't recomend 4500 stall for a street driven car, as i use to build them 3500-3800 should be well enough...
what kind of power do you have?

Mick (highlander69) had a VY SS with heads and big cam LS1 ran 10.xx at W/Bank and had a 5000rpm stall and was daily driven, there were no dramas with that...bit different in torque i spose to the RB thou

must have some good work done to require a stall of that size?? either way spend the bucks and buy a new stall built to your engine/driveline specs as not all stally's are the same. You could buy a 100 second hand ones and still not get any of them to work correctly..do it right the first time..

way to small lol, even i run a 3k in my BMW, and its just a standard engine with turbo strapped to it,

go to somewhere that builds converters man, let them know what ur wanting to use the car for, they can build you a stally that will be spot on

i've seen alot of people come in & ask for huge stalls with little power & they just dont do the job the same if its not built right.
as dano said get a new one, tell them your specs & they will build one from scratch...
red diamond stall converters are pretty good, well they use to be when i worked there & before they sold the business to ASNU..

I have a 4200 with no drama driving on the street. Although my car is lighter than a Como

I'm running a 3700 in the Monaro and its more than streetable, although mines a V8 with a fair amount of work done to it.

Doesn't a high stall slip more and so use more fuel and get hotter as well? What is the point of running a high stall on a street car, seems like one of those 'look at me hot car' fads.

Did you all miss it, he said he's running a T51R (its a big turbo).

It likely wont make real boost until 4/4.5k so this kind of stall is required.

Do you have a dyno sheet showing where the engine makes power/torque?

I know bugger all about stalls but have been told that for a road/circuit car like mine around 2500, so below turbo spool up speed. Drag is different, I understand that, but street?

lol Rich, I'm assuming he's not planning on circuit racing an auto VL.........

Not making real power till 4600 rpm. Ive got a 2800 stall no good with trans brake. Been told to go to 4500 rpm stall by GZM/ Keas. Just would like to know what it is like to drive on the street. 400+ hp. Thanks

It all depends if its "tight" or "loose" as to how it will behave on the street. Don't fuck around with bodgy backyard @#$!s. If your mates car is making the power that turbo is capable of supporting then a good converter can be the difference between a car that is a rocket or a pig.
4500 is easily streetable.
No point in getting a 2500 converter just so it behaves(eg goes like a dog cause of lag).

I've got a 5500 stall in a VZ SS Ute and that is street driven. I have no problems on the street.
