no, but it does look like a location that a video game would use.

Technically that's two models, the big man is a buddy from work and Dkam was up a flight of stairs somewhere taking photos downwards.

It was a bit of a curve trying to balance such a dynamic pitch of area's we pretty much dove right into, litterally walking past alleys and just going down and shooting in there. The softbox could been better if it was twice the size as some places really needed some fill rather than a hard-ish key (from the distance the box was at). I did have a second flash & rx but no mod to use. I think an umbrella or my bigger brolly-box would've given us better results but then again, you wouldn't just walk down busy George St with one of those over your shoulder!

So any CC on these shots?

I think the next best thing I could've done is run with a better lightmod but using an shoot-thru or brollybox would've killed portability but I think next time Dan & I will perhaps do a more 'more lights, one location' style shoot so we can get a bit creative.

Also was awesome to have some good help Dan, thanks for coming & bringing the extra talent.

P.S. my new flash 540ez arrived from Canadaland! Works and I'm stoked.. But it's just something else to mod too! 3.5mm mono jack for the side of the shoe to hook up to the Cybersyncs.. Now I need another stand and another STU and another cybersync... ;D

Alicia is gonna kill me, and it's not cause our gas is out and we're showering from buckets.. Damn you gas-hot-water-via-bottles! Damn yooooooooouuuuuuuuuu!

You bought some? Hope you went through paulbuff.com.au not that weird & dodgey sweedish dude of ebay.

Also, you mean buy one as in buy a flash or buy cybersyncs or buy something to mod your flash with.. ITS ALL SO CONFUSING.

P.s. Trip to jaycar tomorrow = 3.5mm mono jack on 540ez, 3.5mm mono on cybersync = Easy!, Also thinking of modding my SB-28 as it's Prontor Compur gives me the Prontor Shittors. ('PC' in PC Sync = Prontor Compur for those playing at home).

In true tradition of posting pictures of just about everything I do... Here's what I did tonight!

I got my 'new' 540ez off ebay and it came in very clean (for it's age) standard form, no sync ability for my strobing.. Until now!

2.5mm mono socket into the shoe.

Nice flush mount, and I loved the little looms! Made very easy work of it.

Like it was there from factory!
Attached File  _MG_0008.jpg ( 95.05K ) Number of downloads: 29

This is my old National brand flash (that I took the foot off and the optical slave out of), Here you can see it essentially castrated and the 2.5mm jack in place & threadlocked, I am also adding a test button for the flash because it doesn't have one and when mounting it I thought it'd be rather easy just to dab on a micron of Loctite 401.. Of course it zipped straight into the little button and glued it like concrete.. What a waste of 95c!! Back to Jaycar tomorrow!
Attached File  _MG_0010.jpg ( 110.28K ) Number of downloads: 30

I've got my SB next to me to explore the possibilities of that and I believe it'd be rather easy to do the same on the 580ex2, I just don't think I could drill into that flash.. I'd want to catch the plastic and try and melt it down like gold..

Nick_
Post #893

So here's the National finished (Inc using the old 'sync' hole for the all new test button :D)
Attached File  _MG_0002.jpg ( 75.42K ) Number of downloads: 27

Also when I was at Jaycar I grabbed some mono plugs & chassis mount 2.5mm jacks to do the rest of my flashes (580 inc)

The point of no return on my SB :mamoru:

Another for the hell of it..
Attached File  _MG_0009.jpg ( 102.21K ) Number of downloads: 20

Threadlocked & done!
Attached File  _MG_0010.jpg ( 88.65K ) Number of downloads: 33

Factory finish! Plus now my 3rd battery doesn't jam & the door doesn't stick! Bonus!
Attached File  _MG_0014.jpg ( 113.23K ) Number of downloads: 30

Just a quick note, This flash is still 100% operational in all senses, I didn't gut the shoe like on the National etc.. Just piggybacked off the PC Sync for the firing positive and a chassis earth for the neg & whammo. Placement of the jack was the biggest issue but thank god it all lined up perfectly.

Time to post 'em up Dan.

I'm on-call over the next week so it's OT & then some but hopefully soon Dan and I can get out and get some more images.

nice job! like it very much!

but i prefer it straightened, to look like what you actually see, as opposed to having it slightly distorted, so that it looks like a much larger image.

No offence, but what?

If you straightened it, you have just gone against spirit levels.. Also distorted? It's a 3-image stitch taken at 17mm.. of course it's going to be distorted to the purists..

Perhaps rephrase for me?

Benny_boy92
Post #904

I do belive it has less of a fish eyed look on the corners....Thats about the only 0.1% of a difference i can see..

Nick_
Post #905

I can't make out any difference apart from it's smaller and has less detail now (because it's a re-compressed jpeg).

Yes, i acknowledge that it is normal wide-angle distortion, and all i was saying is that it makes it look like a bigger landscape than it is as when you do not have any distortion.

Like what i did, just showing you, seeing if you like it :(

Ooooooooooh ok, i just didn't see any difference apart from the image was smaller. So what did you do exactly?

nick d you have lightroom 3? that has distortion repair

Nick_

Nah man, only CS4.. I know you can do, what is it.. umm.. perspective or something..

I'm guessing it's like a horizontal compression (as in squeezing it in from the sides), which is what EUniqe is talking about?
