There are bad/inexperienced drivers driving high preformance cars , slow cars, it's nothing to do with the Car. I'm just saying from watching the groups that I did. It seemed like the excels where the ones driving in packs ? dunno.gif

you also find the excel's won't really be slowing each other down much at all anyway. they're fairly maxed out as it is, so grouping together won't whole-heartedly be coming down to not getting better lap times.
the slower excels let the faster excels through but even so theres only 2-3sec per lap difference between them.

I didn't make that post as a driver I made it from a viewers perspective as I was watching all day.

"Finding a clean lap all comes down to experience" ? I'm starting to think you might actually be a moron..
How hard is it to slow down from the group you are stuck in and give yourself a few seconds between a car ?

There is usually around 10-15 cars on the track and there is at least 60 seconds of track. That's 4-5 seconds between each car..approx
There is no need to drive around nose to tail the whole 5 laps.

You guys don't personally bother me cause your never in my group.

i thought it was bit of joke yesterday... the biggest groups that i have seen for a long time..there were 20cars in my group when normally there would only be about 12 cars per group ! but the fact that they put the slow cars in the group with fast cars, not to mention some newbies.... what a joke ! the time difference between the fastest car in my group to the slowest car was a difference of about 16secs ! thats almost a quarter of the track rolleyes.gif

so much for staggering 5 secs between cars. when u have such a disparity in speed within the group, add to the fact there were some heroes in the group that block or cut ppl off when they are already level with them on the corner.... or the poor girl driver who just would not let a much faster car pass down the straights, only to get stressed out at the corner cos now they are right on their tail.... and spin out rolleyes.gif

making it dangerous for everyone else in the group. if only she let them pass on the straight it would have been so much less dangerous , rather than spinning out on the corner and finding your car conked out and now facing traffic head on... geeez

not sure why qr just didnt go back to usual of stacking all the faster cars into group 1, and let the excels/or other slower cars have their own group dunno.gif

I'lkl assure you without sounding as cocky as you with your above bolded comment, i am well into your leauge, but i was in an excel, and i will be a bit more, i really enjoy it... but rest assured, we will have to compare times when we get the ecu back into the S14 and tune it... low 59's with 250 hp and blown headgasket...

now new engine bigger turbo, ecu, elf fuel, and willwood rear brakes, as well as some aero...

Looking forward to dipping into some great times...

Were you in group 2???

I had the silvia turn around on turn 2 infront of me!

Big ups to her for being out there... plan is to have my fiance out there, but at 5 motnhs pregnant, she can wait a while... But i found not just said silvia driver, people spend WAY to much time worrying about what going on around them than driving... as stated in the breifing, if overtaking its the problem of the OVERTAKER if something goes wrong...

Worry about yourself, enjoy the fun of motorsport, and push yourself toward getting some good numbers down...

As for dropping back and waiting for a big gap to get a run, IN a hyundai this doesn't happen, if u slow down you get lapped HAHA and usualy by people who like to go fast unto the track has a bend in it smile.gif

Your comment has merit. Comments taken and I understand your frustration, but surely you also understand that you paid the same entry fee as the slowest driver on the day be it male or female. Given the number of entries it may have been better for QR to have run 5 groups with less laps per session but that i am sure would not have been well received either. There is however plenty of opportunity to compete in other events where traffic is not an issue and quickest times are the order of the day..e.g Gatton Street Sprints, Carnell Race Way, Rocky Street Sprints, Leyburn to name a few. I say thanks to QR and Time Attack for attracting such a large number of competitors.

Hats off to Paul, Robby and anyone else on here that has made constructive comments. Forget about running with very slow and/or very fast cars at QR/Track Attack Sprints, my only concern is the fact it's a 5 - 6 hr drive to get to QR then after the event dragging a trailer another 5-6 hrs to get home. Hardly a QR problem lol.

Bring on the next event. Rocky Street Sprints.

I can understand some peoples problems, with slow cars, i was put in group 1 with a borrowed car, i put a time of 66 down on the paper work but the car was duel entered so we needed to be put somewhere, i ended up doing 1:03s most the day but knowing i was going to run slower than the fast cars in group 1, i made sure i was always last in the line to head out, that way I had plenty of room to do what i wanted and did not spend my time trying to get out the way, the leaders only court me on the last lap, but knowing the rules of QR the last car always gets 5 laps which i got every run, so the cars that got 6 laps in i expect a thank you LOL

I watched group 3 a bit, as the other driver was racing in that group, and saw every one grouped in a small area of the track, some of the problems was what looked like an Audi going slow on the bends and fast on the straights so no-one could over take, and the cars behind not willing to slow down to get a clear run, harry who was the driver i was watching, just slowed down for the first 2 laps till the lead cars were close and went hard for the other 3 and never had traffic problems,

One bit i did laugh at was how we were warned in the drivers briefing on stuff i have read the XL boy have done like trying to grid up on the worm up lap. Got a smile out of me.

Don't mix your words Paul, You said "it takes an experience driver to find a gap to give you some room" not " it takes an experienced driver to find a good lap"

I'm no were near as experienced as some of the drivers. I've only been driving QR for 3-4 years. However I do know for a fact.
That if you drive in packs of 4-5 cars you will go slower than having plenty of open track. Weather you are in 500hp porches or a 80hp excels
It's technically "Keyboard Warrior" and don't worry I'm not stressing wink.gif I'll probably be at the next lakeside so I'll definitely come say hello.

I appreciate all types of cars and anyone who is keeping the racing on tracks rather than the street. However so far from what I have seen at lakeside and QR the "MAJORITY" or the excel series drivers (not saying all of you) Seem to think that the sprints are some sort of head to head race. Which in turn effects the rest of us sprint drivers who have been doing this for a few years without this sort of problem ?
Clearly lakeside and QR management share the same concern , other wise we would not be getting the extra lectures in Drivers Briefing.

You want to race head to head and "think" that driving around in packs is fun. Piss off to the Topgear. Or pull your heads in and start driving sprints.. Is that to hard to understand ?

what it seems to me is that QR is just doin a money grabbing exercise. what was traditionally the saturday arvo SPRINTS where we did 4 sessions of the SPRINT circuit is no more, cos instead of giving the ppl who want to enter the sprints, we are now lumped with the track attack people.

if track attack wants to book the track for their use , then QR should give them a track day for their track use , NOT toss em in with the people who are entered for the SPRINT arvo. Cos now the people who ARE entered for the sprint arvo only get 2 runs on the sprint circuit to get their best time, instead of 4 rolleyes.gif Not only that, cos now that the track attack guys are lumped in, there is of course an over subscription to the track day leading to potential biffs on track from too many cars on the track at one time leading to a poor chance of actually getting a clean run in at all.

my other gripe stems from the fact that ppl are getting points allocated to the sat arvo sprint ppl (NOT TA guys) whilst running SLICKS. i've had many chats with doug who has said, cos it is for road registered cars ,SLICKS are not permitted and if u run them u would NOT get points. one offender being the porsche GT3 on michelin full slicks rolleyes.gif but if they aren't goin to police their own rules, fk me i might as well run slicks in the future just to see how fast i can go .

err who said it was trackattack that decided on the clubman layout?!?

and maybe if QR had a website which showed bookings like TA does, then youd have an idea of how busy it was going to be.

only track attack entries get points for doing times on the clubman circuit. the sat arvo sprint entries only get points for the sprint layout. the times we do on the clubman circuit dont even appear on the results rolleyes.gif so only 2runs on the sprint layout to try and get a clean run angry.gif when we had 3 before

Im one of the newbies on the sprint scene. Its difficult to have parity amongst everyone, especially as there is so many levels of ability in drivers, cars and experience. I think most people were fairly cautious, and some will take away from the day as lessons learnt, remember not everyone is a born racing driver everyone was new to this at one stage, as long as your having fun and not hurting yourself or others including property, then so be it.
