Iv got a Vy SS i brought with already lowerd suspension im prity shore its ssl front and back siting on 20" wheels. Im wanting to get it as low as posible in the rear, ridiculously low like a whole heap of the gards hanging over the rim as long as it dose not scrub with rolled gards, iv seen sssl king springs siting on 20" wheels and im hoping to get if possible abit lower than that without going coilovers or baggs. has any body got sugestions on what springs and shocks to get or where i can order them from? ?

You don't have any option besides making the car extremely defectable and hard to drive. Assuming they are in fact SSL's. But even then SSL's are technically illegal. Go 15's if you want it that low.

i had triples in my VY SS Sedan, full car an shit in the boot my fuel tank would scrap on some bumps on the bruce highway, dont really recomend it. i was tucking 18" rim just looked good but i had problems with exhausts being squashed an mangled an scraping side skirts etc. they were triples that had been used for ages with full car so sagged alot.

you cant cut the vy springs as they taper both ends, if you are dead keen maybee get triples an a heap of concrete bags in the boot till they sag, fuel will be at an expense though.

or put them in a vice an heat them up. make sure they even though.

anyway have fun with it, they are great cars

I've seen the 'import boys' do some pretty stupid shit as well. It's not just one camp, it's across the whole scene.

Uhhhh, ffs people! there is no sssssssl ssssssssssl. King Springs come in low, standard, raised, ultra low and super low. THATS IT!

Now on topic.

You can have the springs reset in the rear but it will be a dog to live with. Get some drop in air bags for the rear.

Ultra Low's are also known as SSL's. I didn't think airbags were legal?

May as well just cut em. Not like its gonna be legal anyway so you're just asking for trouble.

King springs will be able to supply a spring as low as you want basically, just tell them its not for road use. Ive ordered many custom springs from them.

That being said, if you do it your GOING to get defected, i promise. All my friends with sacked commos have, its just not worth it.

Not to mention its dumb and totally fucks your handling

Not from the manufacture, at least they aren't advertised as such.

Airbags can be legal.

Since all the people who are saying cut them have obviously not read all the posts, you cant cut them. VY rear springs have a tapered coil top and bottom of the spring. This means no cutting and holden designed the springs like this to stop bogans cutting stock springs and becoming roadkill. You also cant move the upper spring seat, since it the chassis rail it sits on.

For the OP, coilover rear suspension or airbags will be your only answer

Wound down all the way and my 19's used to sit in the guards and that was on a ute wink.gif

Sorry to go OT. But umm how about you check the King Springs catalogue? Clearly states ultra low part numbers sometimes ending in SSL or SSSL. Hmm.

Remove the rubber spring pads for an extra 5mm drop then heat the rear springs with a blow torch whilst leaving them in the car. Eventually with the weight of the car they will sag as the springs heat up. Get your best mate, preferably male and tell him to yell stop once the desired height is achieved. Repeat for other side.

Alternatively purchase 2 sets of spring compressors and attach to your springs. Adjust the bolts so its as low as possible and tack weld the spring compressors in place. Trim the excessive thread from the spring compressors and refit the 'custom lowered springs' to the vehicle. This is a great mod for when you get defected as you can simply return it back to original height quite easily.

Someone mentioned the springs can't be cut.... Just cut a coil from the middle of the spring and reattach with Selley's metal bond and tack weld for extra strength.

Your Commo will be looking sik, phat, dope and ghay in just a few hours.
