I got pulled over yetsy and was told i had 2 remove the ? from near my number plate (UP-41-RU?). He said that speed camera's wont recognise my numberplate, but i cant find a law on RTA NSW website yet. As far as i knew aslong as it isnt obstructing the numberplate its ok.
Do u's know any different?????

In QLD altering a number plate is illegal, I'm going to hazard a guess that NSW will be the same.

The ? is roughly inch away from number plate.

Should be legal, I think.... It's not an alteration of the numberplate.

take the sticker off and paint it there! that way you could argue that it's apart of the car. i know a certain young drifter who has l/p plate out lines with ? marks in them

Apparently even drilling holes through the centre of your plates (to accommodate Euro cars) is illegal. But also is the use of double sided tape. So unless you wanna drill a new hole in the sheet metal of your car, you're fucked.

Funnily enough I got into an argument about the above one.

My prestige plates, when you first receive the backing plate for them, have no holes.

I argued the backing plate was not part of the actual number plate itself but used by the plate to secure it to the vehicle.

Was not impressed when I told him if I got fined for it I would take it to court and have him embarrassed in front of the judge for something so petty.

you are not screwed.

People just like to take the easy way out when putting plates on eruo cars by drilling the plates.

Nothing stopping you making two brackets up, but people either too fucking dumb or just lazy. Eitherway, suck shit.

I called the NSW RTA head office today. The chick on the other end of the phone laughed wen i told her wot he said. The RTA said aslong as the numberplate is clearly visible from 20mtrs away and not covered in any way then it is fine. But if it was an offensive sticker (like show us ya tits, or something) then that is illegal. So a question mark is fine. I just hope he pulls me over again soon so i can tell him he's wrong. The same tool tried charging me for overtaking on double lines, but there were no double lines in sight. Wen i told him i'll take it to court he got shits and went over my car, lucky i got a pretty much stocko falcon wagon except for dark tint, XR front end and 18" wheels.
I guess he was just trying to make his monthly figure and didn't want the boss to squeeze his testies for not making enough money in fines.
