Hey guys, new member here and i just got a few Q's Now to preface what im going to say, id like to acknowledge that getting a Supra or an S15 is obviously not the best choice for a P-plater but nonetheless im adamant in my decision to acquire either one of these and have accrued the funds in order to purchase and maintain either car. Now the two choices are an NA supra or an Autech s15 as im in NSW on my P-plates and hence cannot drive a turbo charged car, v8+ etcetc. IF i decide to get the Supra my initial plan is to obviously get an NA one and once im on my fulls, do a conversion to a TT -> is this going to be costly? AND if i decide to go for the Autech my plan is to just drive it on my P's till i get my fulls and just resell it as they have a decent resale value (P-plate tax =p) and just get something else. Furthermore, for those of you who have experienced driving either one, how do they drive?? ive done some research and it seems the Autech pushes 147 KW while the Supra NA is approx 165kw? the S15 is lighter and im assuming more fuel efficient but how much so? Anyways thanks in advance and lets please try and keep the anti P-plate banter out of this thread <3 |

The Autech would have a nice re-sale value with the P-plater tax. |

Out of those 2, definitely the S15. It's light, powerful and would be better on fuel than the boat. |

Thanks for the replies guys, im definitely leaning toward the Autech although its going to dig deeper into my pockets but i guess it should pay itself off somewhat so long as the P-plate laws are still intact. Would anyone happen to know how much insurance is going to cost on an Autech? i heard NA supras dont cost so much on insurance but ive no idea about the s15 |

well to give you an idea, toyota MR2 is $6000 to insure comprehensively on P-Plates. So that Autech is going to be through the rooof!!!! |

Less Word - Synonyms, imo. OT. S15 x 10000. Have been in an Autech S15 and an NA Supra and the Silvia is so much better all round. |

I was where you were a couple of months ago.. was about to spend all my cash on a nice Black R34 manual. Then saw this cheaper (but just as fun) MR2.. maybe you should widen your choices . Yer i should probably do some research about the insurance costs, right now ive narrowed my choices down to those two cars but im definitely open to other suggestions but im not a huge fan of the MR2 as im pretty sure it's a 2 seater which is a lil less impractical for my needs |

its really a matter of finding an autech for a reasonable price...in MOST cases there still up around the 25k RANGE FOR AN S15.....i would certainly go the SIL man..... power to weight, plus quite a rare ride!!! |

Test drive a lot of cars! Dude those Autechs are darn expensive and u don't get your bang for buck with them! You will be kicking yourself when u roll up next to a turbo s15 which can be had for way less Friggin P-plate laws lol. |

My first time driving a car down the strip, the s15 ran a 15.5, that was with the chrome 19"s on the front and stock skyline wheels on the rear. With a good driver youd probably be looking a little bit quicker. |

Douche-bagish attempt to sound intelligent failed. How is that douchebaggish? Its actually a well thought out post unlike 90% of them on here. ps. Id go the S15, they hold their resale value very well, its lighter than the supra, its easy to find parts and the SR20 is a strong efficient motor with plenty of power for a P plater. |

+ the autech s15 has more power than the AUS delivered turbo model!!!!!!!! yea i heard its about the same as the aussie turbo 200sx which kinda baffles me, if by any chance the autech gets put on the restricted vehicles list in the future, will i still be able to drive it if i can prove i bought it b4 they updated the list? |

Douche-bagish attempt to sound intelligent failed. fuk up cxnt no1 cares The Autech would have a nice re-sale value with the P-plater tax. Personally I'd go the S15 over the Supra due to me being a Nissan fanboy. Just as long as you don't mount an intercooler to make it seem like a turbo you won't seem like a tool. And fuel economy depends on how you drive either vehicle, as with any vehicle. haha defs mount the cooler then when the cops pull u over "wat turbo officer" well would you rather " HAI GUYZ WHICH IS DA BETTURR CARRR SUPREHZ? OR AN ALLTEKZZ s15???" you make the call bud. ZCH91 u got pwned OT defs s15 a bit costly but eh u only live once if u worried bout insurance just get third party lol |

$6000 for comprehensive for an MR2 is robbery. My turbo RX7 when I just got my license was $1800 a year comprehensive (about 1.5-2 years ago now). Shop around for your insurance and find a good deal. |

You will be kicking yourself when u roll up next to a turbo s15 which can be had for way less Friggin P-plate laws lol. Don't the Autechs have the same output as the stock turbo s15's? If I had money to burn an Autech would be my choice. Turbo charging an N/A supra can be more expensive than just buying a TT version. The Autech is already tuned fairly high so there is not much room for mods if you want to go down that path, unlike the turbo which you can work with. Edit: the smart thing to do would be buy a reliable cheap beater on your P's, you will more than likely scratch the damn thing. Then buy a turbo S15, all that money you save can go on mods. Well, that's what Id do anyway. |

They both have 147kw but the Turbo model has a mountain more torque... and makes peak power lower too. I guess if i had 20k to blow i would buy an Autech on my P's over a supra anyday of the week! You will appreciate the fuel economy! |

Autech hands down. $6000 is what Suncorp quoted me. Bare in mind I'm Just turned 17 so I'm in the worst category to be insured. I don't have comprehensive lol just CTP property! $6000!!?!! Fuck that thats almost as much as i paid for my car!! Autech hands down indeed |

LOL. Take it from an autech owner, just car insured me fully comp for $24k, for $2400 a year. Thats with an adjusted excess of $4000 if accident at fault, $3500 if stolen/fire Thats awesome.. That excess is massive tho. so basically it ends up being $6400 a year if you have an accident xD DON'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT! Insurance in this country is bullshit in my opinion! In Holland as far as i remember you don't pay excess you just pay a set insurance and it covers everything. |
