Yep. Ive been in touch with German Wreckers at Rocklea, seem pretty decent, but ill always shop around. I need an E34 (1989->1994ish) 535i engine (complete with airbox, air con all ancillaries etc) and a 5 speed gearbox to suit (most gearboxes from E23, E24, E28, E32 and E34 will work) prefereably E32 or E34. Also chasing an E28 535i radiator. If anyone can help that would be awesome, cheers. Rob -------------------- Helping smart-arses look like dumb-arses since August '85

Turns out James at BMW shop is a living legend - i told him the parts i need and he goes "sounds like youre trying to put a 3.5L 6cyl into a E30 318" haha which is exactly what im doing - he's done it a few times and knows his shit and has it all there! |

Im looking to go from 90hp to about 230 :-) Yeah James definitely knows his stuff. Hes done many conversions like that before. Good luck. |

211hp from what i can read, but the engine will be running higher compression, a schrick cam, extractors and a modified intake and ECU. I think 230hp is actually a conservative rating. |

Gorgeous 535is, BTW. It was a white 535is i saw a few months ago that actually got me looking at BMWs as my next car. Had a look at a few 525/535's but they had all done a million miles or were way overpriced. Fair enough then, the right chip can really wake the m30 up, my one came from a bmw specialist down south and I was really impressed with the results. From what you've listed sounds like it'll be a pretty healthy motor, another one to add to the list might be the maf conversion from miller performance, fairly pricey but apparently its worth it, thats probably going to be next on my list. Ive always wondered how my car would go without all the weight lol. And cheers, wasn't my exact one was it? there cant be many white 535is's in brissy lol. |

an m30 3.5 is going to be too heavy for the a e30 its going to be to heavy over the front wheels mate, me and my cousin have a track e30 with a LS1 in it. the engine is so much lighter then the m30 cos its all alloy...dont be doing it just cos its a beemer moter your better off with an SR or 1J in it...or LS1 |

But yeah 250hp in a car that weighs dead on 1000kg is gonna make for a fun lil vehicle. Depending on the condition thats pretty cheap for an is, they're a rare car. Ive had mine for sale for the last few months but Id rather not part with it for what the cars probably worth so Im keeping it lol. |

Cheers for the heads up on that possible issue, but it wont be a problem. I have sourced engine mounts that will sit the M30 right back to the firewall, and with the battery in the boot it will give the same weight distribution as a 325e :-) some of the build ups ive read about on european built 335is actually show BETTER weight distribution by using alpipna or hartge engine mounts and slightly modifying the firewall 5-6cm to clear. |

Its ridiculous - theyre such an undervalued car beacuse most examples have a million k's on it and bring the average value down. Same as lexus LS400s etc. Your car should be worth SO much more than it is. Im not sure what condition the 535IS is that BM Warehouse have, but it might be worth a look if it can be gotten for around the $4k mark. Wouldnt suit what i want to do (i couldnt pull apart a 535IS to build a 335, its not worth it) but im comfy finding a 535 that was an auto, and using an E28 or similar gearbox to get the job done. |
