Trading the commodore in on an LS400 so i have a bit more grunt to tow the skyrine with.
I cant make it on friday the 3rd - i have a training function at rothwell that starts at 6pm and goes til god knows when. id get my ass kicked if i didnt go.
Next wednesday im going to head to archie tho - will be a bit more fun than QR anyway apparently, tighter corners which will help til the skyline has a bit more go.
Ill most likely be out with it for a few times as naturally aspirated, until i am sure i have all the parts i need for the turbo conversion.
Waiting on a new whiteline front swaybar and some camber adjustable strut tops at the moment. looking forward to that. But yeah itll be a month probably until the turbo setup is in and complete. Maybe more, hope not tho.

Whiteline front swaybar = MUCH less body roll, its a huge swaybar! Heaps better turn in, much easier to control the over steer, too. Doesnt roll around like a boat while kicking from one side to the other.
Was $189 at autobarn (cheaper than ebay, and didnt have to pay postage haha) and i reckon it is one of the best value for money mods on the car so far, the best one being the minispool. Even when driving normally, its much better around corners, and has greatly increased cornering speeds. Also stopped my front tyres from scrubbing around sharp corners haha - thats how much its improved the body roll!

sounds like i need 1 im grubbing out bad lol helping the steering wud b good 2
question, what lines on the the surge tank go to where can u give me some details, mine has 4 outlets

lil_bobby_260
Post #189

Mine is set up like this, listing the fittings from top to bottom -
- overflow, back to fuel tank (nipple on top)
- from fuel pressure regulator
- from lift pump (standard fuel pump)
- to second fuel pump to engine (larger fitting at bottom)

FLMN HT
Post #190

was your second pump an internal or external?

lil_bobby_260
Post #191

Its just a VL turbo pump, an inline pump. hose goes in, hose goes out :-).

Thanks man i had a blast! Was awesome!

SO an update on my foray into drifting -

Ok so it was my first time out at a track having a shot at drifting, and i EASILY spun it more than any other guy there, but hey im not one to pussy foot around - i had that throttle NAILED haha.
Nick thanks heaps for your help! a lot of your advice paid off - imagine what i could do if the car had a functional handbrake! And your cousiins a pretty mad bastard in his S13 too - doin it for the NA crew.

I had a fair few dicey laps, but towards the end of the night i could manage to do proper laps, drifting well on most corners, and not spinning out at all. I know have about 3 hours of drift practice under my belt! Its gonna be a lot of hard work, and i think im up for a new gearbox soon, but damn its fun and i think im picking it up ok. I didnt hit anything cept for a few cones which was quite surprising.

Yeah, handbrake is indeed needed. tongue.gif

You did pick it up very well. And it's fucking AWESOME once you get your first lap down pat ay. Your lines were great, your throttle control was great, just your reaction needs a little bit more practice. Apart from that, well done tonight. Oh, and watch out for those fucking ripple stripes; they suck wang.

Next you'll be tandeming like me and camo. Closer then a fly's dick. tongue.gif

yeah there were 4 R31's out including mine which was pretty cool! couple of them were running pretty fierce camber haha - i need to organise some neg camber on mine i think - i can feel on the front tyres that they are getting a bit roughed up from being rolled under hey.
No-where near the level of running tandem yet - a few more nights maybe. Gotta get my handbrake working or look into the hydraulic one ive been contemplating cos its just ridiculous - really hard to kill speed in it at the moment.
The hardest thing is getting coordinated! figuring out where your hands and feet are meant to be at certain times, and not going to grab a fist full of handbrake and missing it etc.

man i fuckin SMASHED those ripple strips haha - they didnt know WHAT hit em. Ill have to have a look under the car and see if ive bent anything.
Yeah - reactions definitely need work - knowing what to do at certain times without having to think about it etc.
You and camo were fierce as - i was shitting myself right there in the passenger seat of your car - my first time at a drift track and i find myself in the front seat of your car in a tandem battle. im not gonna lie - that was pretty hectic hey. Youre an awesome driver, dude. That was phenomenal.

Haha, yeah; didn't know what to say after you hit those last ones... "wow... oh well." hahahaa. And it all comes with practice, it's all you need. smile.gif

Thanks man, it even makes me shit myself haha. You get used to it after a while. And funnily enough, no major dings or hits... YET. I need a little bit more grip, just to get this much close to him. || tongue.gif
