Ummm no one complained cos there was "no bbq" its was more along the lines of organisation. i am all for charity and more than happy to support where and when i can, but reading this orginial thread, it was an organised event, show and shine, police escort bla bla bla.. that is all what normal charity cruises entail. then today, no organisation, no escort, no information and everyone bailed without letting others know what was happening.

noone wants a refund. no one asked for a refund. see above comments.
the charity cruises i have attended, had people from the charity attending, the police were aiding the event, there was sections and donations taken upon entering for maximum fundraising and everyone was informed about times of when things were happening and what was going on throughout the day.
I have no issues with anyone, but just felt that letting people know what was going on would have been good.
i came down when you needed the $ at the start to help make this happen and even waited an hour and half for you to come because i wanted to support this.. and then when everyone bails from the event and doesnt tell you whats happening its a little weird.

Hey guys,

So its on for this sunday as follows:

Meet BEFORE 9 am chermside westfield (will hopefully get an aerial view pic tonight to I can show you a pic of where). We will leave here to head to brisbane entertainment centre, which is just down the road.

We will be here for as long as everyone wants, with a show n shine and hopefully a bbq and overall a good chance to hang out and chat, and seesome cool cars.

Entry is 10 dollars per car, and we will be hunting for donations from people on the day, along with gold coin donations for drinks etc.

The weather is looking good so no excuses to not have your car sparkling and to have ur ash trays full of shrapnel!!

So come along and have a good day with us!

Cheerrs, mcgnarly

Please show me where it says a police escort and a bbq at the end??? yes it did say it in the other thread, but this was the new updated thread......

Hmm i had the feeling thats how the cruise was going to go just be reading the original post. sounds like an embarrassing cruise.

+1 for proper organisation, sorry mcgnarly tongue.gif

good work raising 500 though, but think how much more couldve been raised without alienating the people that attended.

I told many ifyou that the police contacted me late friday and told me they didn't have the 'recourses' to escort us... I also said I was unsure of the bbq because of problems with the people organising, and if some of you could open. Ur eyes you would have seen. In previous posts that I was unsure of the bbq, I did have drinks for sale, I did get westfield and bec to allow us to use their space and I did get starlight totake us officially on.

Soube-you didn't even turn up, woulda been 510 if you'd made the small effort

ummm... if you read my comments - i said "the original thread" which is where i got he information from and i was told this in person on the night of payment by mcgnarly himself.

i dont care there was no bbq.. thats irrelevant.. its the lack of information, organisation and communication.

maybe you need to off your high horse and realise that people expect a certain level of organisation with a charity event..
there should have been maps for those unsure of locations, events ie meet points, cruise times and fuel stops if needed. all written up and handed out to all who attended.

we had no idea what part of the BEC to go to and it was purely because there was a few of us together at the start who pulled into that carpark, that everyone else seemed to follow and park there when they arrived.

if payments were collected from all the cars who attended.. why is it people i know who attended, did not get spoken to about it and they had to go searching to donate..

you seem to be keyboard warriors and when people speak to you in person, its a different response.
you dont bother to speak to anyone out of your little "click".. if you did, you would understand where we are coming from.

Overall although it was a good idea, I was pretty Dissapointed in the whole event..

We rocked up to find a carpark half filled with scattered cars, I had no idea who the Organiser was (As it was through friends telling us about it that we rocked up) and there was no sign of the so called show and shine.. Or any form of Organisation what so ever.. When i did find out who the organiser was, I didn't really hear him talk to the group as a whole or even inform us to what was happening etc.. So dont be too hard on the People who had mixed info from between the 2 threads, as it was all VERY "All over the shop"

Fare enough there was an updated Thread, But i dont see any info regarding the show and shine being judged by "People's Choice" etc like we found out on the day.. ???

How on earth do you expect people to vote if they dont know they have to??

Anyways....

I know a lot of work has to go into organising a day like the one planned, But dont organise a full Charity Event, Show and Shine etc if it's only going to be another carpark cruise..

Good work for raising the money you did for a great Cause tho..
Maybe next time, give yourself some more time to organise things better and get a few more people on board to run things smoothly..

We all love a good car event, And even more when it's for a good cause..

Actually no it wasn't.. Maybe another disappointed attendee..
Just because people voice their opinions, there is no need to assume.
It's funny that I speak up and you all pounce on me, yet others voice the same thoughts and it's all sweet...
Why is this?
I do alot of charity stuff with my job and this is why was disappointed with this event.
Three weeks is plenty of time to organize some maps, sections, event judging etc..
If you need assistance, i'm happy to help where I can. Just ask.
Just because I don't post alot on the site, doeant mean I don't get on here.

to all the whingeing whiners out there who are quick to criticise McGnarly's organisational abilities or lack thereof, pull your heads in

not one of you volunteered to help

if you think you can do better, then go ahead and organise the next event, so we can all sit back and judge you in turn like you're now doing...

Dont flame me or anyone else just for having an opinion!!

What, you think people take the time out to come to a talked up event like this, get bounced around from carpark to carpark with absolutly no communication or organisation and come back saying what a wonderful time they had? Wake up!

If you cant deal with both good and Bad feedback.. Just organise events with your friends.. Not on a public forum for all to attend..

If anything, Listen and take in what people thought so you can make the next one bigger and better

I have organised a few cruises before. and if they had asked i would have been more than happy to help with this one.

A charity event especially should have a good level of organisation as it reflects directly on the car scene. what would the charity's representative have thought of a few people standing around in a carpark and then randomly driving off.

Was the crowd even addressed or thanked for turning up?

For sure, he did an awesome job raising that much money for those in need and have to thank the people who did attend the event thats for sure.

I understand both sides of the story and I see where some of you are coming from in regards to organising a charity event cruise, correct me if i'm wrong I think it is his first major event he has done since moving to Brisbane.

I'm sure next time something like this goes ahead there will be a bit more organsing with the event as well, but look he's done well and helped raise that much money.

If you ever need a hand next time mate, I'm always about smile.gif

But I agree on one of the above posts, lock the topic before it turns into a shitfight.

Look let's make it clear. I'm not closing this topic simply because you're upset that people aren't providing the "awesome day bro" that you're hoping for.

You're getting feedback from people who have been in the scene long enough to know what needs to happen. Accept that there were flaws with the way the event was run, take it on board and change it. Speak to the people PROPERLY regarding their comments, and stop getting all defensive. If you want to know how to organise a proper cruise, might I suggest searching for threads about the 'Sunny Coast Cruises' organised by NewlyAwaken. Even just the thread itself will provide guidance of what needs to be done to turn the event into a highly successful day, and ultimately achieve higher attendance and make more money for your chosen charity.
