![]() HEY GUYS just a quick question how easy to do a 253 conversion to 91 hilux ive reaslenty smashed a pole in the lux and stuffed everything in front end side guards, bonet, rad suport, inner wheel arch guard engine has water through oil it due to water pump shaft smashin through i thought while its out to do somthin different i was also told 253 bolts up to orignal 5 speed box no mods at all ???? just engine mounts and crap let us know wat ya think i got funds ready and 3weeks off work to get fixed or anyone thats done one that wants to do another one ??? GAV |

a 253 is too old to be legally put into a hilux, the donnor engine needs to be out of a car that was made in the same year or newer |

^^ Correct. 308 became the 304 due to Group A changes in '84 where engine capacity HAD to be under 5000cc. 308 is over 5000cc and the Ford 302 was legal. |

253 is legal if converted to straight gas however with all the cost involved, it would be a much wiser option to fit in the 1UZ from the lexus. Kits are available to put straight in and would give more power and better fuel economy than any holden peice of crap holden V8 could ever offer. Sorry if offensive but the 1UZ is just a much better peice of equipment and you can get a whole half cut for under $2k. |
