I think a better question is "What can you afford to fit?"

You could go the turbo 4, or a v6 or small block v8, all depends on your budget, what you can do yourself etc...

There are of course limitations so ask an engineer, and bear in mind if you put in a bigger motor you will most likely need new suspension/brakes also...

Post up some pics though! biggrin.gif

Depends on your budget. 4AGE is a common conversion.

Stupidly, stupidly expensive and won't fit. Looked into this before for a mate.

Stick away from the RB30 like AIDS. It's way too heavy and will greatly upset your weight distribution. Stick with lighter engines, if you MUST have more power you could build a 7AGE (4AGE head and 7AFE block, giving you revs + displacement) or just fit a GZE.

ya right mate dont put a rb30 in it there way to heavy and you will go no where

you will get a lot faster car with an old ford 6 and wont have the problems of engineering engine mounts and getting an engineer cert for it...
too much money for nothing

If you want something with a little bit more go, you could look into the legalities of a 1UZFE - they are light, plenty powerful, compact and respond incredibly well to mods. If you do go this route, expect to have to do some very extensive chassis strengthening (half-cage, front and rear strut braces, RHS along the chassis, etc) to avoid twisting the Cortina up like a pretzel

iuz v8 toyota/lexus v8 yeah .. would be great, bullet proof bottom end light block ,bur fuck that would be expensive you would not get change out of 10 or 12 grand and to make it super reliable you would have to upgrade fuel system ,,mainly the injectors gecause we are having problems with the injectors staying oprn for to long and washing the bore's resulting in no compression an in need of a serious rebulid or a new block seen it happen a few times with the 1uz .. but personally i am a crossflow man cheap and easy to work on and it wouldn,t cost much to make it pull 12's in a cortina

Almost any EFI transplant is going to cost you that much. Look at it this way - halfcut + bellhousing + gearbox will be around $3500, then you need the driveline to support it and the fuel setup. That's it from the engines perspective, it's just the time to put it in and converting to EFI that's the costly thing. I've never heard of any fuel problems in a 1UZ providing the rest of the fuel setup is correct.
From a performance point of view, stock 1UZ in a Corty will be very low 12's or even high 11's as long as you can get traction. It will beat the crossflow in the fact it will use half as much fuel and make the same, if not much more power.

i only got a hk
