I think a better question is "What can you afford to fit?" |

QUOTE(clowns182 @ Mar 12 2009, 01:37 PM) yeah i got everything for the 4age the other day and a 5 speed probly going over to a mates in a few days to put it all in when i get of my p's my brother has a rb30det so ill probly try to get that beast in it lol Stick away from the RB30 like AIDS. It's way too heavy and will greatly upset your weight distribution. Stick with lighter engines, if you MUST have more power you could build a 7AGE (4AGE head and 7AFE block, giving you revs + displacement) or just fit a GZE. |

If you do go this route, expect to have to do some very extensive chassis strengthening (half-cage, front and rear strut braces, RHS along the chassis, etc) to avoid twisting the Cortina up like a pretzel |

Look at it this way - halfcut + bellhousing + gearbox will be around $3500, then you need the driveline to support it and the fuel setup. That's it from the engines perspective, it's just the time to put it in and converting to EFI that's the costly thing. I've never heard of any fuel problems in a 1UZ providing the rest of the fuel setup is correct. From a performance point of view, stock 1UZ in a Corty will be very low 12's or even high 11's as long as you can get traction. It will beat the crossflow in the fact it will use half as much fuel and make the same, if not much more power. |
