Gday all. Im looking at getting a S13 / 180sx with a rb20det conversion. Just wanting to talk to someone who has one that can tell me how quick it is and what mods you have, Power figures and quarter mile times would be great. I know for example an rb20det in a r32 with the usual crap, (catback, pod, fmic, boost up stock turbo) is good for mid 14's, would this net high 13's in the lighter chassis? I want one but my brother is just putting a bigger cam in his vh sle efi 5litre and I have to be quicker then him haha. |

Hahaha is that the only criteria that a car needs to satisify for you to buy it? If your brother has a stock 304 with a filter, extractors, exhaust and a hydraulic cam (mild) behind a turbo 350/400 in a VH then you will be quicker if you have the essentials. |

But Rb20's sound so much nicer then Sr's I would never own a 4banger no mater how much power it may have. I just like the price tag of these cars and want to know what kind of potential they have with basic mods |

If you put an Ecotech into a S13, would you drive it? SR20 will be more reliable, bigger range of atermarket bits and a much younger engine than the RB20 - not to mention a much more fun car to drive. If you MUST drive a 6, then find one with a RB25 conversion (I know of one at the moment, probably out of your pricerange though) |

And when since did ecotecs sound like rb20's are you telling me that all 6cylinders sound the same? Now that is completely and utterly stupid. I dont give a shit about sr20's the sound they make is a complete turn off for me personally, there is nothing beautiful or sweet about it except buzz I know people out there love it but not me. Im not after the quickest and easyest route. Personally I dont even like nissan and im not trying to start a debate here, personally I rather something with a turbo 1uzfe or a 2jzgte. But im loving the price of rb20 s13's and am wanting to know how quick they can be with basic mods, can they be set up easy for hard launches or will they just have the tendency to either bog down or spin? Show me the rb25 one you are talking about, I dont have a price range, Im willing to pay upto 20grand for something that catches my eye. |

a sweet sounding RB is great comfort when you plough understeer your new lead tipped arrow straight off the road the first time you give it so stick through the twisties. QUOTE(the_random_hero @ Feb 18 2009, 10:18 PM) why would you ruin a perfectly good autech convertable? 25 will end up twisting a S chassis with no roof like a pretzel |

QUOTE(mongrel_cae71 @ Feb 18 2009, 10:25 PM) If you want a straight line warrior, the pick something other than a S platform, Multi-link suspension geometry is only good for skids in a straight line, not launching. What would you recomend for under 10grand that is 2door manual? I was thinking R33. Ideally Id like a dirty big carby v8 with short gears and a stally but im craving turbo 6's and manual as of late. So basicly the conclusion is they handle like crap with the iron rb up front? So a r32 with the same engine but with more balance front/rear will handle better. oh and convertibles?? https://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....=386875&hl= Maybe if it was the 80's and I had my long hair again and a iron madien cd hahaha. |

1jz s13? for under 10k on the road? Have you ever seen any for less then 10k? I doubt it, and if it is, its auto. |

you could build on yourself for under 10k easy if you're handy, east coast customs sell full kits for $1700(mounts, gearbox mounts, tailshaft, front swaybar etc.) 1JZ manual cut(jza70, frontsump) is under 3 grand(if you shop around),there are a few silvias on here for $2k. |

Wiring is all to easy for me. And same goes for doing the conversion, but whats the go with getting it all engineered? Do I need bigger brakes or anything like that? Sorry for the newbie questions never really played with imports before. |

there's a couple of manual jza70's in the for sale section, there's even a aus delieivered ma70 that's been swapped to 1jz/r154 for 5-6 grand |

S13 + 350Z VQ35DE and 6 speed = Low 13's in America from stock swaps. Conversion is surprisingly simple as well. |

QUOTE(DJTrisma @ Feb 19 2009, 12:32 AM) I have an S13 Silvia SR20 dont have 0-100 or 1/4 mile times, but its pretty quick. faster than skylines (except GTR's, they destroy SR20's lol) My mods include: T28 turbo HKS pod filter Blitz URAS boost controller oil cooler kit intercooler +more i can think of at least a dozen non-gtr skylines that would dust u with your set up. and yes with an rb20 u will get a low 13 sec quarter with minimal mods. they aren't as nose heavy as ppl think with the rb. i think a 4cyl is quite light in the front steering wise.. u will notice this especially coming from dinosaur v8s |

Thanks for all the comments guys, almost a 13flat from 200rwkw's in a sr20. So a rb20 with similar power would make similar times? Pretty impressive. |

Ive driven one and it was great not as bad as people make it out to be. 45ult, I drive a toyota celsior 1uz v8 its old but wouldn't call it a dinosaur. Shes currently under going a single turbo project. wont be a rocket but will go alright I know coming from driving nothing but v8's for years and then going to something with a 2litre 6 will be a downgrade as far as down low torque is concerned, but I don't mind revving the shit out it, it wont be a daily driver just a i don't care about kinda car. just want something that will beat my brothers vh (if its a pig s13, it would break his heart), and I think this will do it oh k my bad i assumed when u were talking about v8s' and ur bro's car that u had one too. yeah low 13's from a rb20 is easy i got it with minor mods in my 32.. also choppd many cars similar to your bro's |

well im pretty sure that a stock boosted sr20 makes more torque than a rb20 |

The VG20DE+T is not a good engine, it is also more gutless than an RB20DET. |

TTR racing $6500 drive in drive out RB20DET... have spoken to ppl with RB silvia's used for drift, they love it, i think if u go RB u have to go 25 to make it worth while but there is more work involved fitting the gear box and stuff so mate its really up to u.. anyway u go SR,RB,1uz,1/2J,VG etc done right all will make your heart go. |

R32 will always handle better than an S13, the double wishbone suspension > S13 Macpherson strut |
