Avoid those turbos as there is extra gear you need to get it running on an RB25. Get the stock turbo rebuilt and it will be much more reliable and more importantly, a better ball bearing cartridge core = less lag. |

if you want to get one of the two i would get the smaller one because it will have less lag |

QUOTE(09ONE @ Oct 3 2008, 06:44 PM) You can buy better genuine Garrett ball bearing turbos for so cheap these days it's not really worth going for a KKR. I think you can get a GT3071R as a direct bolt on with internal gate. It would go quite nicely on a mild tune RB25. GT3071R from Garrett as a bolt on replacement for the RB25DET R33 can be had for around $1400 if you shop around, the compressor dynamics are vastly superior to the KKR430/480/560 and best of all, the GT3071R is rated to 550Hp for the RB25DET and retains a ball-bearing core. KKR's do not use BB cores ![]() Getting the stock turbo rebuilt can be done for less than the KKR and still provide more power as well. |

sweet as, cheers boys. the best price i got for rebuilding the standard turbo was about 1250 and hi-flowed as well was 18hundi.. so i just thought a brand spanka would be the go. but ill look into that gt3071r.. and also whats the go with some being only oil cooled as opposed to water as well.. are the oil cooled only ones as good?? |

Get a turbo that is oil cooled and water cooled, otherwsie your engine oil is super heated by the turbo and returns to the sump very hot, which can cause oil longevity issues among other things. |

A friend of mine with same mods as you bought a KKR560. Makes full boost at just under 4000rpm. Had issues with the internal gate but just got an external gate and solved the issues. Everything bolted up to standard location. Was a cheap turbo upgrade. There is nothing wrong with KKR's but all up to personal choice and how much you want to spend. As far as I know, the old KKR's were only oil cooled but the more recent KKR's are both oil and water. With 550cc injectors, fuel pump and a tune you could make your 300rwkw with the KKR560. |
