am wondering what people here are running w57 or w58 gearboxes and what engines and power they are running infront of them. i have a w58? to go behind my 308. ive been told by various people that they only handle 200ish hp and others that they handle 400ish hp and others that they can handle well over 1000hp. so am wondering what people are using out there.

its the torque that kills gearbox's so its a lil hard to answer that, the one in the soarer is copping 350rwhp without a problem.... |

It is not just the peak torque that kills them but they way the torque output feeds on. If the torque delivery is on/off due to a big cam or big turbo, then the sudden rush of twisting force is what destroys the box. |

more instant torque in a tuned, bored V8 then there is in a small, big boost motor.... |

so not even worth the risk. may just look at going back to turbo 350 or 400 and sell this off. |

been doing more research and found a few people running high hp engines with w58 boxes and no probs. as high as a 467rwhp slr and only went through 2 s/hand boxes in 5 years and was only snapping the input shaft. |
