stop being impatient.

how about a cruise up to lamington national park? BBQ etc...

although twistie roads + wet weather + dumbass drivers = chaos = laughs for us.

Sounds good. mamoru.gif We all need cheering up today.

Shattered. That is all...

Hard luck Ang...its a shame that all the work and effort you put in along with the stress you get from it ends up with rain canning the event.

its not the sun, its the large amount of water still on the track. and as with all of ang's event, saftey is the first concern. no day is worth running if there is a chance that someone could get injured or even worse due to track conditions.

Having repeated that, Moi you only specified if it was sunny I got that shirt. It's sunny bitch! oopsie.gif

That's the way the cookie crumbles I guess. Hopefully I'll be able to get another day off..

He's right ^^ the track was the main issue, it was saturated. The guys were happy to start drying it and they expected to finish about 10:00-10:30am (so you were already losing racing time) but if there were any more down pours you'd lose another hour in drying time.

I stood at the gate till 8:15am (in case anyone rocked up) and it started sprinkling, then it did again on the Cunningham Hwy on the way home and then again at the toll booth on the Logan Motorway. It was the right decision I know ... just so disappointing after all the work gone in to it sad.gif

Like the true girl I am I'm crying sad.gif I was going semi ok till I read everyone's posts. Thanks for not e-bashing me <3 ... I was more stressing about that on the way home.

Damo3442 I passed you on the way out, sorry I couldn't tell you sooner sad.gif You too Mat sad.gif

If it was only my $95 I was gambling I would've gone for it ... but it wasn't sad.gif

As for the reschedule date, I'll ring Willowbank this week and organise. Please don't expect me to have the answer tomorrow or chase me. The way I feel right now I'd probably say something I don't mean. I'm going in to emo mode now tears.gif

Big hugs for you ang and a hearty thankyou for putting yourself through all this stress just so we can go and abuse our cars a bit.

Im looking at this in a positive light.. if the date doesn't clash with anything else I have going I will actually be able to race the XR as I will actually have it back and finished smile.gif

When the decision was made it was indicated that the day would have now started at 10.30am due to drying the track and the braking area (over a kilometre). It was also indicated that showers were forecast and that it would be impractical to dry the track more than once, meaning a heavy shower means your already shortened by 25% day was over, with no prospects of a refund.

It was therefore decided in the best interests of all and sundry to reschedule the day to a day where you get your whole 6 hours (or 7 depending on the mood of the ambo's biggrin.gif ), no cars are pulling mud or water on to the track (it gets "stuck" in the grooved tyres) and no one has wet steer tyres (burnouts happen with RWD at the back not the front).

I know this is a decision that may have disappointed a number of people, but you would have been a whole lot more disappointed to line up, have no runs, watch it rain and get nothing back. This way, we get to have another go.

Angela has done an awesome job organising this day, I just feel sorry for her having been put in this position by the weather.

I've been on the other side of this listening and trying to calm Ang down many times through the organising of this event. She's shattered to say the least.

After organising big events myself (not on the huge scale of drag time) I understand why she's sitting at home crying.

Knowing Ang, she'll have some huge coldsores tomorrow from stressing so much over the past few days. Give her some time, she'll come through.

Well done on all your work Ang, giving car enthusiasts a place to go to legally race and match up against mates. There's not many people out there stepping up and giving enthusiasts a legal place to race.

Willowbank has a great calendar with heaps of dates, even for "street cars"

Blame the weather, not the organiser.

It could have been worse, you could have driven to Sydney to have it called off which has happened to us many times, or ang could have not had the balls to call the event off and you all turn up and then its called off, or lots of time is lost through drying the track and you all whinge.
You should think you self lucky ang had the balls to call the event off early, and you still have a day to do something else.

your point? every is away of the test and tunes etc. This is a more relaxed social atmosphere and you get a lot more runs etc. Don't be a wanker about it and try to downplay the efforts she has put in to this.

Bugger..... i was all keen to come up for a cruise and catch up with all... gave the Torana a clean up yesterday and woke up at 5 this morning and it was bucketing down, so i went back to bed hoping it was only down here and everyone would have plenty of fun!!

Dont stress Ang, nobody can help the weather - even the Australian Nationals has been rained out or rain effected at Willowbank nearly every year in recent times, its part of Drag Racing and unfortunately there is nothing nobody can do about the issue.

On a plus side, the rescheduled date might be better for me to have a skid rather than just being an onlooker!! tongue.gif

reschedule is good, i'm gonna make all endeavor to have the hsv goin so at least i'll sound right, chin up ang I think everyone would agree the right decision was made and we still all get the opportunity to have a wicked day out instead of waiting around for the track to dry. beer.gif can i get another spot for the drag day 2008 version 2.0 and bring both, might let her that wears heels have a run too, if she'll put enclosed shoes on for a few minutes lol,. i was dissappointed earlier now im just excited again hsdance.gif go chill and worry about all this again in a later in the week
