IT: hardware support for IBM contracts. I work for a crew called Bytecraft who are owned by Tattersalls so pretty much the biggest IT hardware contractor or becoming. Contracts with WW&BigW, Maccas, IBM PC (home and office), BWS and Dialtime (phone credit terminals and stuff) and they gave me a lame Mitsu Trition.. I call it the white whale.

Why's this?

Gezz didn't need your life story!! haha

Nah was just curious as I'm in the IT game as well. :bowrofl:

Well only got a few from Archie tonight, some are a bit dark as I hate to move from ISO 100 and I was only there for 15-20mins so screw it.

I also got in trouble for not having a vest (and since I rocked up from after work and my work shit is all black it's just common sense I'd need one) but seeing as I was only staying another 5 I just decided to bail then rather than go get one and come back THEN leave.. I may just buy my own and keep it in the back of the car for the future.

Firstly, its Ghetto Panda hamming it up! (not really, it's just another red Silvia with a sun-roof, funny thing is though the driver was Asian and pandas are Asian so one could assume away with this one!)

Also, the dude who I've seen consistently tearing his first gem (S1-3) RX7 around Archie wanted to know if I post my photos and asked me to take this:

[attachment=504284:attachment]

Funny thing is though he didn't ask me WHERE i posted them, so good luck to him finding it! Apparently the car was running fine with these plugs so who says oxide inhibits conductivity! Humbug to that!

lol nah mate not me soon enough though but i was there taking photos though got there at like 6:30 and left when it ended was a great night, good pics btw.

Yeah was a good night, i was out there in the white RX7 S5. Been out there once to shoot and it's a tight ass track. And very hard now that's its getting into winter and it gets darker early, so you only have that small window from when the drifting starts and it gets to dark to pan.

as well as the lazy drifters didn't even START till about 5 when the laurel hit the track. Sometimes I've been past and they're already running at 4:30 but whenever I get to stop with the camera it always seems to be the slow days.

I also got asked if I was the 'photographer man'.. Does Option have an actual mainstay photographer there?

They now have stamps at archie. This is my lame attempt at being arty with it (yes old photo, i've scrubbed it off now).

Nick did they allow you to stand in that part of the track which kind of extends inwards which is just before the last hairpin? Think it's the shot with the white 180.

I had a chat to the marshal last time i was there about flashes and if its a distraction to the drivers and he said its never been an issue.

Nick_
Post #119

Yeah that's 'my spot'. I like it there, lets you get some shots of them drifting on the right hander before the big lefty and then panning with them on the lefty and i usually never follow them past there which is the last hairpin and the calm-down tyres.

I didn't have a vest so I wasn't venturing too far this time but next time i can actually stay more than 20 minutes I'll be donning a doner vest and jumping into the middle.

I did notice another dude standing with the marshall at the start line on Wednesday, i don't suppose that was anyone from here?

That was just most likely a marshall, i was on track on wednesday night though.

Well no archy tonight but I was able to snap a few this afternoon. Was pretty sick this morning but by 5 I was feeling a might bit better.

This is some of the heaviest 'shopping I've done to my stuff yet with a fair bit of dodging, burning and hand desat to try and emphasis the graf. I know Lance has said he doesn't like pics of graf, but I just think it's like any subject only it tends to have great textures and brilliant colours and design.. pity about all that illegal stuff.

Staircase is at the same place kinda hidden near the Northgate Aus Post depot. The staircase shots are 1/50th and above so there not exactly night shots but I tried to PP that effect in, give a little doom and gloom to them.

I know lance doesn't like them but I do...
#1 is pretty good, nice d&b work
#2 is very cool - i like detail shots
#3 I really like the pp work on that, partial desat works a treat
#4 same as 3
#5 and 6 - meh. Just pics of other ppl's artwork to me.
#7 - love it, great pp and a very cool scene
#8 pretty good, love the comp
#9 Great comp and excellent pp work - my fav of the set.
#10 dominated by sky, poor comp and uneven exposure.

I hate to hijack but I use to do shitloads of this stuff. Could be interesting to try doing some long exposure stuff with flashes like I used to:

#7 is my pic of the bunch. Your worked your lines really well! Also really like how you've keep a little foreground in #9, shot just wouldn't of worked without it!

The graf shoots really don't do anything for me as it's someone else's artwork.

# 3 Looks hot. So does # 4. I'm not really into photos of graf unless there is something else eg. a rider or a car in the foreground, but these ones look sweet.

They look better but they are still other people's artwork. Graf should be used to make YOUR artwork look better. That is not to say they can't be the centrepice, they can by all means, just make sure you have a very creative way of getting the whole grungy urban theme across. Incorpotating people or cool buidings, even rubbish, are great ways of doing it.

Sorry to hijack again but maybe this will help u to get some ideas:

It's not very good stuff, it's really old (I was about 17 then) but it might help give u some inspiration which u can add your own flair to.

Cheers man! I need all the help I can get :wavey: Your stuff is awesome!

I'm gonna have a hard think the next few weeks as I'm currently moving so I'll try to bust out some stuff in a month or so when I finally get settled again. OH and now I have a concreted & enclosed garage so I'll be getting some black and white sheets for shots hopefully.. Not sure of what but Tyson's water bottle and sparkler shots are pretty rad. Plus getting a lighting kit like matt meads would be pretty awesome - I bought a cheap-ass optical slave for my pentax nissin flash about 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't shown up! Now i know why i only paid $3 for postage, it's going via gold-fish :hsdance:

Thanks for all the comments & cc too guys, without this I'd probably have stopped a while ago.. It gets rather boring when you just do it and no-one cares to look, says 'oh that's nice' etc..

Well this is my first go at HDR & Tone mapping (with Photomatix, which is really easy!) although it's hard to get a good effect without the sky getting all pixelated like it's been over-sharpened.

Hopefully over the weekend I can grab some HDR that isn't so basic but I only grabbed this the other day just to test out HDR & Tone mapping. The halo effect is pretty annoying but if you check out a lot of HDR stuff you can't really escape it without killing your highlights. I think I erred on the side of subtly and I only spent 5 minutes on it. Hopefully i can snap something worth spending say 10 minutes on.

Only editing was a deset from within the Tone Mapping plug-in (using Photoshop CS3), tweaking the blacks, shadows and dimmed the highlights 2 points (-2), a little microsmoothing and "high" light smoothing also with 70% strength on the tone mapping it's self.

a HDR shot I took this afternoon with some tone mapping and some REAL shit cloning which you can probably tell. It was to try and get rid of a concrete ramp right in the front of the shot. I did a good job but then PS shat itself and this is my dodgy re-do.

Got a few more frames & will have a go at them later. Don't even bother telling me to clone out the power pole either..

[attachment=525122:attachment]

3 frame HDR then Tone mapped (Photomatix), tons of dodging and burning.

Another HDR & tone mapped pic this morning. Felt bad when GP reminded me that the boost bris day was yesterday morning so I took advantage of a day off and hit Sandgate (round the corner from my new house) and the city before it started raining.

Lol the "I've been everywhere ad." They drive past that church. Around that corner. LOL I saw it tonight i was like WTF

Nick_
Post #140

It may just be the same church!.. The esplanade along there is long and straight so it'd be a decent place to film the sort of shit in that ad.

More, hit the city this morning, then got rained on so i went home.
