hi, im currently a P plater who is held back by the restrictions that go with them. But when i get my full licence i hav my eyes set on buyin a Toyota mainly to do with the strength of the 1j and 2j engines. My question is, wat is everyone's opinion on which is best from the: Supra, Chaser and Soarer? I know the Supra is gunna make the most power of them all but im not wantin just big power. the Chaser would b good as a cruiser as u can take all ur mates along 4 a cruise. and well the Soarer is 1 of those cars u either like or u dont but it still has the huge potential under the bonnet with the 1J. i want to hear all the positives and negatives that any1 can tell me, and ppl's experiences from ownin either of the 3. the models im most interested in r JZA80 supra, JZX100 Chaser and JZZ30 Soarer. lookin forward to ur input ![]() This post has been edited by Dicko1: May 7 2008, 04:11 AM -------------------- less flappin more slappin Current rides: AE94 corolla, S14A 200sx |

QUOTE(Raym @ May 7 2008, 10:29 PM) A good late model (VVTi 1JZ) Soarer are still around 18k, where as an auto Tourer V is around the same, a manual though.... look at about 25k for a tidy one. Sif buy a 5k Soarer anyway, it'll have so many things wrong that you'll prolly need another 10 to fix everything ![]() Late model soarers are still 10 years or older. Hardly a newish car. If you're going to swap the suspension and put a new turbo etc then might as well save money on a cheap one as long as its body is straight. The market for imports is plummeting, pay anywhere near 18k for a standard soarer and you're getting fleeced. |

I'd quite happily pay 18k for one in mint condition, no screwing around with workshops, etc. Theres a late model GTT-L (it looks like anyway) with just about everything on soarercentral for $17k something, if i was looking to buying one like that, i'd have no probs slapping down the cash knowing that the car has been well cared for. |

QUOTE your obviously lying. if you have the power restriction laws, then you obviously got your licence from the 1st of july? last year, which means you have alot more than 1 year to get onto your P's. oh well 12-18 months, still less then the 3 years than u thought i would hav left. lol also i've heard that the chaser is lighter than the supra, does any1 kno if its tru? |

Besides, I know you have had your eye on the chaser ![]() |

JSPEC has a number of tidy manuals around the 15k mark. So honestly, people wacking another 5 grand on the manuals when they come over are just ripping people off. search around but to import they are cheaper. mmmm chaser ![]() ![]() |

Chasers were 98% Auto which is why manuals are so rare and expensive to buy. Dependent on the model of Chaser, depends on the weight. They ARENT exxy to buy parts for if you know where to look, they share the same suspension components as the JZX90 (EXACTLY) as well as other items. Easy to get power out of if needed. Buy a Supra and get the whole "Supra" tax that everybody charges when selling Supra gear. |

QUOTE(IP45TU @ May 8 2008, 10:18 AM) Won't you have trouble getting parts of sort for any import though ![]() If they're really common (s13, Soarer, Skyline) then i imagine they'd be pretty easy to get. JZX100's are still pretty new to the country. Wasnt there a thread a while ago about someone wanting a new door for a Chaser, and they had to wait for it to be shipped from Japan? |
