Hi there,
I was wondering whether or not Pod filters are legal in QLD?
Does it have to be in a sealed box?

I've been told

- Has to be in a sealed box
- Has to be mounted solid to the body (no need for sealed box)

Thanks,
Tien

I was just told the laws changed recently from has to be mounted solid to have to be in a box
Is that really the case?

You will also find a lot of police want them enclosed to arrest the chance of a fire from backfires.. Been to court over this one, and lost.. So make your own mind up, or speak to the people that will KNOW, not just guess..

well ive been thru a DOT station and a mate of mine has been over the PITS and both times we have been let off, all that needs to be done in QLD is that it needs to be sercured to the car in some way thats solid(not a coathanger)

Have been told air filter has to be secured.
Last copper who checked over my car said that was sufficient.... and he was pretty darn knowledgeable.

I believe it doesn't have to be in a box, just secured....

read the official car modification guidelines documents - as has been said many times in here, all that is required in QLD is that the pod filter is mounted securely. it doesnt need to be enclosed.

and PS: securely doesnt mean ziptied, it means a metal bracket.

I have half of a CB radio bracket on one side and a PC blank slot piece on the other side. Secured!

The Law is this for QLD
Pod Filters need to be secured solid to the chasis of the vehicle.
The pod filter is also to be made of metel framing (non flamable)in regards to fire.
Thanks.
