I went thru at around 10pm that night thru past the swimming pool, saw the flashing lights so i just lined up and got out of there, they were checking tyres and insides of the cars with torches etc, they even seemed nice enough to let me through with getting rbt'd after i showed them my licence... sweet!

Im also with the legal crew, im not up for losing anymore points on my licence, so i just do mods that I think are legal, hell I even got my exhaust system on my SP20 db tested so i was right!

oh and here is the link from the courier mail website...

I was at the Broadwater CarPark about 2 weekends ago with my modified 2003 Sti.
I just think the Carpark is now just a waist of time and the idiots who go in there doing burnouts have wrecked it for the real car enthusiasts who just want to hang out there and check out other peoples rides.
It used to be good there when it filled up but now i think its a joke. The coast needs a new place for car enthusiasts to hang out and the police need to be informed so they can stop idiots going in there and wrecking it for everyone else

It's really simple... If the idiots disappear then so does the heat, because then there is no public complaints. But every year a new wave of fuckheads come rolling into Boostcruising and the car scene.

let me guess it was one of those probationary constables, the good old

blow into this plz
lift the bonnet plz
30 seconds later your driving off again

bring your car to the MTA and i bet they'll pick you on something, half these cops dont even know what they are doing, they do a quick course and think they know everything, its not quite as simple as that im afraid.

like i said, you go to a hotspot, you know the deal,if your caught live with it,but dont sit here preaching the legal talk its never the case and never has been, its all about drawing attention to yourself and your attitude, dont hang around drifting bogans, dont have a bodykit that low it could be used as a plow, and dont get a attitude when being spoken to,speak to them how you would want someone speaking to you,if they are just plain agro and being a arsehole then go with the flow and remain calm, being a arse about it only gets you more fines and grief.

P.S that news article is shocking the stats proves that BWCP is crap and full of the new and upcoming turds who think FNF4 will make them look cool to the old skool nthusiasts, sucks to be them dont it. laugh.gif

I t is fair enough we should be trying to make our cars legal. If people choose not to that is thier choice and the risk they take.

But how is this possible when they can change the laws at any time without any notification. So you think you car is legal only to be informed once you are pulled over it is not. I come across this with exhaust dumping.

The laws are starting to become a little ridiculous or should i say the anal enforcment of these laws.

Most of the Police are pretty good and as long as you are not being a dick and you speak properly instead of getting your back up straight away.Unfortunatley there are some that have had a bad day or just general wankers and really want to f@k up you day.

But hell we have the same amongst our groups most of us love cars, everything that goes with them and do the right thing most of the time, but how many knobs do you see doing a burnout as they leave BWCP, really how smart is that and these are the people winging the most about getting defected.

Just because you didnt get fined, doesnt mean that there isn't anything illegal. I too have been pulled over at the spit and i know of at least one thing on the car that is illegal (didnt know at the time, but do now), and neither of them bothered the officers who inspected it, one of whom was a QLD trans inspection officer.

It all comes down to attitude, and whether they feel like picking on you or not. The defect i had was my wheels were 8mm too big (rolling diametre) but it didnt phase them.

Point i think jago and the others are making though is, if they wanna fine you for something, they will find something. They'll make it up if they cant. "suspect suspension is too stiff" or "suspect exhaust too loud" or "suspect frontmount intercooler not comply with ADR's" (that one came from a standard XR6 turbo) are a few of the common ones i've come accross.

I dont agree with police unnecessarily targetting stupid defects for revenue purposes as if its some form of massive service to the community, and do agree that making a car "legal" (to the point that a cop cant even make something up) is somewhat difficult/impossible - However i think its a complete joke that people continue to go to BWCP then come on here whinging that they got picked on. Ive had my licence for nearly 4 years, and BWCP has been like this with cops since long before i had my licence.

People head to the M1, thats fucked now, The broadwater, Cops all over that now, Yatla and other industrial areas are alos hot spots.. Lets just take it to housing estates, Seems cops dont go there. Lets go piss off elderly people and rip big skids and drift there.....

The thing is cars are going to go somewhere and it is not going to stop. Lets take it to the neighborhoods and really give the boys in blue something to worry about. They may rethink locking down places like the broadwater then, where its away from households and contained in one area where the majority of people are well behaved (apart from cletus and his mates from ipswich)

Brazen hoons defy police

Sarah Vogler

14Jan08

ARROGANT young hoons brazenly performed burnouts and acted up in front of police in blatant defiance during an operation at the Broadwater car park at the weekend.

Senior-Sergeant Scott Bolitho said their actions highlighted the 'bad attitude' of the young drivers, who are the first to cry foul and deny dangerous antics when called hoons by police and the community.

They acted up after police shut down the Broadwater car park on Saturday night and blocked exits while drivers and their cars were checked.

Despite a heavy police presence and no possible escape, Sen-Sgt Bolitho said police could not believe their ears when they heard the sound of spinning wheels.

A young woman in an EH Holden was one of the first to find out that performing a burnout within metres of officers was not a good idea.

She did not look so tough in front of her peers as she was slapped with a ticket.

Another driver thought he would fishtail his way out of the car park after initially being cleared by police.

He made it only 200m down the highway to the Sundale Bridge before being caught by the traffic branch.

Yet another driver had his 1992 Holden Statesman confiscated when he performed a burnout in front of a police car at Labrador.

The 19-year-old from Tin Can Bay was breath-tested by police and was found to have a blood alcohol level of .075 per cent, .025 above the legal limit.

"People were still doing burnouts and fishtails under the full gaze of police," said Sen-Sgt Bolitho.

"It's incredible. It just shows the attitude of some of these drivers.

"It only strengthens our resolve to continue these types of operations.

"All I can say is 'get used to it'."

A young man was slapped with a $75 fine for drinking in public after officers spotted him with a bottle of bourbon as he stood behind the police tape and watched on.

The 25-year-old, who said he'd only had three drinks, was extremely remorseful for his actions when he was caught.

The car park was not the only target for police at the weekend. Officers also patrolled the highways and other known hoon spots from 7pm, and by 3am police had impounded seven cars throughout the Gold Coast and Logan regions for hooning.

They issued 113 tickets for offences such as creating undue noise, speeding, failing to stop at a red light and unlicensed driving.

Police also booked several people for not wearing a seat belt.

Sen-Sgt Bolitho said a driver was caught doing 113km/h in a 60km/h zone along Wardoo Street, Ashmore.

Another was caught at 160km/h in a 110km/h zone along the M1 at Helensvale, and another was caught at 180km/h in a 100km/h zone along the Logan Motorway just near the M1 exit.

Police and Department of Transport staff also took five cars off the road after they were found to have major defects.

Teen hoon's speed sparks father's fury

Sarah Vogler

12Jan08

A SPEEDING teenager who carelessly put the lives of his two young friends at risk on Thursday had someone far worse than the police to deal with after he was caught -- his father.

Regional traffic co-ordinator Inspector Ron Barry said the 18-year-old Worongary youth was caught speeding at 160km/h in an 80km/h zone along Robina Parkway.

When officers checked his background they discovered he had a history of high-speed offences.

A further check revealed he was driving his dad's car.

"Police contacted the young driver's father from the scene by mobile phone and advised the father of the incident," said Insp Barry.

"Of course, Dad was not happy about his son's behaviour, nor were the police."

It was not just the young, however, who disappointed police on Thursday.

Insp Barry said a 50-year-old motorcyclist was also caught behaving badly as he rode along the M1 at Nerang.

He was caught riding at 146km/h in a 100km/h zone.

To make matters worse, the Oxenford man did not have a motorcycle licence, just his learner's permit.

"I would expect the older generation to be setting a good riding example for the younger generation," said Insp Barry.

"This rider, on a learner permit which indicates he has little riding experience, is showing total disregard for the law, is putting other road users at risk of a crash and is tarnishing the image of other motorcycle riders."

Others caught on Thursday included:

* A 20-year-old man who was speeding at 104km/h in a 70km/h zone along Robina Parkway. A licence check revealed he was also a learner driving while unaccompanied.

* A 37-year-old truck driver who was issued with tickets for speeding, operating a defective vehicle and failing to complete a log book after he was pulled over in his prime mover for speeding at 122km/h in a 110km/h zone along the M1 at Ormeau.

* An 18-year-old male driver from Waterford West who was charged with driving without due care and attention in Smith Street, Southport, when driving at 100km/h in a 60km/h zone and fish-tailing his vehicle in front of a crowd of people congregated at a service station.

it's so typical... you have people whinging about their blatant illegal modded cars, and then you have the do-gooders saying "keep it legal"...

well unfortunately, when modding a car there is no way to keep it 100% legal, because if the officer wants to, he'll get you for whatever he wants! Even in a stock car.

Although I believe that there are measures you can take to get out of any BS defects.
