Thanks for the info.....great that Premier hire it out.....though I thought they might as I'd heard of tuners coming up from Sydney (mainly MRT). Might get a few runs done later in the year to verify my tune is still as safe as I want it to be.....plus get the factory speed limiter shifted up a little bit.....damn Foz has one at 210 and it hits it on the straight at HV.

i don't get ripped off from workman ship done in darwin (mind you i only use like a very few places), im also prepared to wait, its certain places down south that send stuff to me that is where i feel short changed

Got my 100,000k service and front mount installed the other day. Took 2 and a half days and cost me $2000. They didn't even get around to installing the other stuff I had. Everything was only ment to take 2 days and was quoted $2000 for everything. Just went there and picked my car up anyway, I'll get someone to install everything else later in the week... Never go back.

Isn't the 100k km service "The BIG one" with WRXs and generally cost in excess of 1200 by itself anyway? - Timing belt replacement (amongst other things)

yeah so that leaves $800 for a bolt on FMIC install??????

'bolt on' normally doesnt mean that it 'bolts on' normally takes a few hours to get an intercooler setup. in saying that - what was the reason you got charged more then the quote?

especially if the front bar needs trimming....which in 99.999999999% of FMIC's on WRX's is the case

Guys can you keep the names out of the thread??

While it's good to find out about bad service keep the names for PM or private conversations - would hate to see you guys get warnings or banned.

$800/$60ph=13.33hrs labor to fit a front mount, thats after the discount! Ok ok he had to put my new alloy radiator in too (bolt on also) and I don't know if he cut the front bar cause its resting on the FMIC. I don't believe you should charge the customer if you cant figure something out.

I've moved on, found a new place to do all my install work.

Geez thats cheap for labour, Isnt the average around 80-90 per hour? Be careful about being critical of that place as you may find that you will end up back there after the other place's butcher your subie.

Yeah, no that flash when you don't get what you paid for.....

As far as DIY goes.....
About a year ago I helped a mate fit a "bolt-on" FMIC to his Foz XT. A long way from being bolt on, came with poor instructions (the manufacturer was okay over the phone with advice though) and getting the bar right was a pain......trim, test fit, remove, trim, test fit, remove......finally get it all together and fire it up, damn CEL, so we had to check all the plumbing again. It was quite dark when we were satisfied with the fit and we'd started in the early morning.

why does everone worry so much about fitment? get the angle grinder out - hack the shit out of it, then drill some holes and cable tie the sucker on. Quick and efficient wink.gif
