yeah that is my problem exactly, they dissapear up the front straight only to have me wedged up their arse again at turn 1 and then stuck there all the way round to the last turn head_wall.gif it stuffs up your times as well. I like being in the faster groups as my PB's aften come from chasing down a car that is just that little bit quicker thumbsup.gif

G'day guys
looks like it's all pretty well organised down there....what's the minimum sorta hp people are running....i know it says no minimum requirments but i'm assuming there's some sorta standard so ppl arn't just taking up room? even in the lowest catagory.

Rookie ROX
Post #112

No minimum whatsoever.

The slowest time I've ever seen (which would be their fastest time for the day) was 95 seconds for an old VK Commodore or something like that - As long as you're being considerate to other people and moving out of their way, and continually plodding along it's not a problem.

We'll we've just tuned the little beast up with what it has so far and it's definitely more linear in it's power delivery with a nice fat chunk of mid range now happy.gif

Fireball has his ported head and JUN sticks back from machining so that will probably go in soon.

Looking forward to getting closer to the 60 second zone hsdance.gif

Is there anyway I can start off in the Alfa division? I don't want to hold up people going for PB's, plus would be nice to have an easy win.

I think I will come out this year for sure. My Soarer is already set up with good coil overs and lots of negativer camber dialled in, will have to put coil overs and manual gearbox in the Chaser though.

Or bring out my 80 series cruiser, so I have AWD lol

it's not like it isn't allowed. at the porsche trackday a 15 yr old girl was out racing in a mazda tribute or something, and later a cayenne... all the body roll in the world combined!

Just two questions i have rung QR in regards to taking photos on track for drift events and was told i need my own liability insurance. Now i have seen only a few on track photographers at sprint days so first question are photographers allowed on track for these days?. Second question if so do i need my own insurance or is it like at hillclimb days where you sign a waiver?, i only ask as i'm very interested in coming to the Saturday arvo sprints to take pics have a few mates into sprint racing ad i do enjoy coming out.

Rookie ROX
Post #133

I've never seen a photographer 'on track' at the Sprints. However because most people are competitors there's plenty of places around the outside of the track to set up your camera and snap away - Just do a search of the previous Sprint photo threads and you'll see what I mean in terms of positioning.

Otherwise maybe hit up JustDave with a PM, he may know more about it.

There actually has been photographers on the track. They tend to hang out at the marshals booths though, so it isn't so obvious. Osella is one that has been photographing there a few times.

Really? I guess when you're concentrating on getting around the corners you don't notice them! tongue.gif

I've only ever seen them hanging around the edge of the track.

I'm in the pits and around the edge most of the time. I've been curious about getting on the infield as well. But since I'm not that avid about it, I don't consider it an essential.

I've always gotten fair pictures just strolling around the track ...

Just don't bring a car where your worried about getting dirty or a few stone chips as roads on the outskirts of QR are no better then cow tracks

I have always taken pics from the side of the track so i know where all the good spots are but i was lucky enough to get on track not that long ago and you and get such better photos.

Agreed ...

Back in the days when justdave and dj brad K where able to go infield at QR for the drift events the drift footage was excellent.

Thou as sprint racing is deemed a event involving a lot more speed I don't know if they will allow you to get that much closer to the action

looks like i'm not doing the sprints like i planed. just recieved a phone call from qr and got told their not allowing unreg/racecars this year.
