I should be out for November as a run before getting the new engine. See how much of a failure the current engine is with its awesome compression of

1st cylinder: 50
2nd Cylinder: 100
3rd Cylinder: 90
4th Cylinder: 80

Must sound like magic with those figures happy.gif

laugh.gif

Assumption led to me thinking I had everything and old mate thinking I had everything ...

But kinda didn't have a lower control arm for suspension mellow.gif

So will have to wait for brakes and suspension to go in ... the rest works good thou biggrin.gif

awwwww i'm sorry jamie sad.gif i'll shower you with love and spooning in december, and maybe even a free ride in the MX-7 biggrin.gif

i know this might be a little presumptuous but the car will hopefully be ready by then. we are getting serious with it now, and i've got a dedicated mechanic starting work on it early november i'd say. so come first of december the scrotar should be good to go.......and fast too.

the amount of work we have to do though is a little ridiculous....

all things going my way I will be there... I have some wheel adjustments to make, and a bit of cooling work to be done... With any luck I will have the wheel alignment done on sat, and the cooling upgraded on Monday or Tuesday

I am having a go at drags on sunday, so my car might be out of action if things go wrong there :/

Should be a good day, lets just hope it isn't too hot!

just found out they havent started my engine the whole time its been at their workshop ugh.gif so basically its been sitting there doing nothing for 6 months.

what are the chances of it being screwed? i have a bad feeling that i already know the answer though.

If the engine was in ok nick to start (ie, no oil control ring leaks, no coolent seal leaks) it should fire up fine.

i would have come out if the tyre shop did not bust my clutch and i had to replace it :S. get car back this arvo. better clutch going in but other should been good for another 50k sad.gif

yeah the rotary ran fine, just a little rich and needed a tune. it was only rebuilt bout 7000k's ago.

that is such a big relief smile.gif i've been shitting myself all morning over that. still, i might get them to try and turn it over just to be sure.

Im curious to know how a tyre shop could screw up a clutch... if you were getting tyres fitted surely that is about 300m driving max (carpark to fitment bay?), if a wheel alignment was in order, perhaps 4-5kms road test?? should I be avoiding a certain tyre shop??

MEV09
Post #1153

yeah i would like to know the same, mechanic had my car 3 days before it and everything was good. the stupid thing on their case is they told me they took it for a road test to check alignment as they couldn't get their machine under it. and the guy that drove it said "do you race that thing its got a bit of power." When i got in the car it reaked of burning clutch and when i went to take off from 4.5k the clutch lets go and slips to limiter. If you want to know tyre shop to avoid just pm me more than happy to lete everyone know who they are and take their business to someone else. The clutch was a Jim Berry organic heavy duty clutch and was solid as a rock up until that day so they obviously been slipping the clutch really bad when they took it for a drive.

keep in mind they started on the car while i was there but i couldn't hang around so it was sitting there for a good 3-4 hours and still smelt of burning clutch bad enough that i couldn't stay in it cause it was making me sick.

can you PM me the tire shop... i just had a bad experience with one - they coldn't get my car started they said...turned out they'd been playing around with it and flicked the engine cut-off switch, and then pulled the battery isolation cable trying to open the boot head_wall.gif very pissed off
