Just wondering if anybody can help me. I have a 1987 (I Think) triton and i'm looking at replacing the stock engine and drivetrain completely. I'm looking at the 4G63 DOHC Turbo for up front and just seeing if anybody can give me some ideas on how hard/easy it would be to do before i just take it into the shop and get a mighty big surprise when i get the bill.

it wouldn't hurt to check, but i think the 4g63 with a suitable clutch will go onto your gearbox. engine mounts may work too. is it 2 or 4 wheel drive ? |

so, just to clarify, the 4g 63 is the same bellhousing pattern as auto ( narrow ) 4g 54 ? how about earlier sigma engines ? |

I had a ex-VR4 4G63B in an old 1973 RWD LB Lancer coupe a few years ago. I used Mistubishi L300 Starwagon engine mounts and a sigma 4 speed box which was tougher than the 5 speed. The starwagon gearbox may also fit your Triton as well... |

QUOTE(voodz @ Dec 9 2007, 08:57 PM) I have a 96 MJ Triton, and have just had a 4G63T installed out of an EVO 3. Custome engine mounts were made and also transmission mounts. I used the 5 speed out a GH Sigma, i dont think it'll handle much abuse but we'll see how it goes. I should be getting the truck back in about 3 weeks so i'll let you know how it all goes. The engine has 180rwkw on 8psi & 230rwkw on 14psi so it should be plenty of fun. Will be sorting out the diff and rear suspension in the next few months. If anyone has any rims FOR SALE that i could throw on for the track, let me know. Would like to hear from any owners of Boosted Trucks.......am interested in getting a club/crew up and running. Who did the conversion? |
