To lower your hilux in the rear end all you need is the following:

Lowering block kit (kit includes:blocks, longer u bolts and nuts and washers) the blocks can be bought in 1 1 1/2 inch to 5inch big, the block has a indent hole and indent point.

A jack and a few jackstands.

Basic hand tools like spanners screwdrivers and so on.

wel all u have to do is unbolt the diff off the spring, place the blocks in, bolt it back up, cut your bump stops in half, cut the remainder of the ubolt off and i suggest that u paint the blocks and u bolts black so the fuzz wont spot u from a mile away.

note: this was don on a toyota hilux 1990 rn85, there is 3 diffrent diff indent sizes on the 1990 model.

the jobs easy im 16 and managed to this job on my own

good luck

i dont kno about where you are, but where i am (NT), lowering blocks are illegal. I went to my local springworks and had the leafs re-tensioned for around $350. Better ride quailty, and legal.

Lowering blocks are illegal in most states, and can also be dangerous to your safety and your car.

The best way to lower a commercial ute would have to be a spring reset, to flattedn them out more, and small blocks if the reset is not enough. I would not recomend blocks bigger than 2.5" as it put the pinion angle out and will wear out your uni joint.

My rodeo has reset leaves and 4" lowering blocks, and from stock 2x4 height, it now tucks tyre in the rear.

The 4" blocks have made my pinion angle whack and im pretty sure when i slow down my drive shaft now pushes into the gearbox. (it makes some fucked up noises!) not to mention the fact that my diff is pretty much resting on stilts.

Also cutting your bumbpstops down is illegal, as with removing them. the way aound this is to have a chassis notch install, which is where the chassis rails above the diff are cut out, and an upwards bent plate replaces them. giving you mroe clearance and a smoother ride.

are blocks illegal in queensland? i got booked for not having load rated rims, pod air filter not "secure" and not having bump stops on the rear but nothing was said about the blocks? had to put in a toyota pump stop to get the clearance and they told me it was legal to cut them in half to fit the blocks.

ifits legal in queensland and registered there and im driving in sydney will i get booked? or is it up to the copper?

i never got booked driving around brisbane with that setup. just the north coast...
