My new fourbie. It's clean in the photos but not IRL ^_^ First thing I did was take it offroad ^_^

Picked it up for a steal off a family friend - paid $7k (that is v.cheap for WA). It is an SSR-X with the 2.4TD, all stock. bigger tires and 2" lift to come :P Also wouldn't mind an ARB bull bar and ditching the shitty little bunny bar.

4WD pics will be coming soon, I have my camera with me all the time so there should be a fair few, hopefully of a high-ish quality.

Hi peoples...there are some nice looking 4x4's getting shown off...I hope my BJ73 middy fits in ok fits...Here is a bit of info about my middy....It's a 1985 BJ73 Cruiser with a non-turbo 3.4L diesel. I bought it bog standard about 8 months ago. I always had plans to build it to have fun times on weekends & eventually compete in a few comps in it. Here are a few things that I have done since i've had it, Custom 2.5 inch snorkle, Sports seat for driver, ARB winch bar, Narva driving lights, Front gaurds have been cut for more tyre space, GME UHF & VHF CB radios, 1.5 inch wheel spacers, 6 inch extended brake lines, Diff breathers have been extended up inside the cab, Carpet has been removed, Tough Dog RTC steering damper, 15x8 sunny's with 33x12.5x15 Mickey Thompson MTZ tyres, Standard leaf spring packs with 1 leaf removed from each (REALLY soft & flexy now), Modified top rear shock mounts, Tough Dog shocks for now, Standard diffs have been converteted to spring over & High link steering.
That pretty well covers all that I have done but there is still a huge list of more things to come.
Just a few of the things to come are, customized top front shock mounts (along with new longer Pro Comp shocks all round), Cut rear gaurds to make more tyre space, Mechenical locker in the front & Air locker in the rear, Full custom roll cage, 36 or 38 inch tyres, Either new diff ratios or reduction gears for the transfer case & Down the track abit I would like to see if I can find a 4.2L diesel engine for it.
I hope you like the sounds of what has been done & what is planned for my cruiser & I will get some more pics of it posted in the next few days including some under body shots of the shock mounts & the diff mods for the spring over.
Here are a few pics of my middy before the spring over was done, it just had a set of 2 inch raised springs in it when these pics were taken....It flexes ALOT better.
Hope you enjoy a look at my middy and please feel free to leave your comments wether they are good or bad.
Cheers Darren ^_^

heres my 2...

my sierra...was a big block 1.3... then after the photo of it under water.. it blew up.. so i had a vitara 1.6 in it... a mate walked through tthe water and it only looked knee deep.. turns out he wasnt walking through the ruts... arsehole. and one day we were out doing jumps in it.. and all of a sudden the music stopped..and the head unit was no where to be found... looked in the back and it was in about 50 pieces...

the bundera was a NA diesel... slow and painful to drive onthe road... but good fun off road.. went many a places that the sierra was jsut too crap to reach. great car.. looked after it alot more than i did the sierra... sold it jsut recently.

Hi smiley...I cant belive you sold your middy...They are such a great truck and are so capable with just a few mods...Mine is super capable with all I have done to it and i recon it will be near unstoppable by the time i am finished with it.
Your suzzi looks like a real beast...Do you still have it...It would be great to see some more pics of it in action...I hope to be posting some new pics of mine showing the spring over and i am also gunna try to get some pics from underneath it to show the modified shock mounts on the diffs and also th top rear mounts.

HOON...them pics were taken over near Lithgow at the Zig Zag Railway...I dont have to worry about my mrs not letting me in the mud, she had a Pajero untill last week when we traded it on an 80 series cruiser for her and she loves getting her 4x4 uot in the mud and rough stuff just as much as I do.
here is a pic of her in action in her old PajeroIPB Image IPB Image

and yes these pics show the main reason I ripped my carpet out...It's just so much easier coming home, taking the rubber plugs out of the floor and just hosing it out... .....Cheers Darren

Went to Glasshouse for a cruisy wheel yesterday, on an easy hill I bent the crap out of the steering dampner which then stressed and snapped the idler arm.

The result was no steering and a whole lot of fun trying to get out of there.

Damn that sounds like a rough trip!

it actually wasnt a rough trip
we started our day at 9ish AM and we didnt finish till a few hours ago,it was one of the last bits of wheeling and we found a cool climb we though would suit the rocky, but i'll let the pics do the talking,he actually scraped it on some rocks that might of contributed to his downfall and then when he hit this hill hard and fast after 4 attempts it went SNAP!!!!

my moto is,if i cant do it in 2 i dont bother ;)
this will save me money in the lng run too ;)

Here are the more recent pics that i said i would post...I have included some pics of the diffs in my 73 series and some of my fiancees 80 series that she got last week.
We went out and had a bit of a play in our 4x4's today and i do have to say that they both performed betta than we thoubht they would...It was fairly wet where we went so that made for a bit of extra fun...My fiancee was wraped in how her 80 series went and i have to admit that the flex i am getting is amazing and i just cant wait to get my front end all customized so i can get close to 36 inches of travel from it.

'HOON69'...Hi...in total its about 6" higher than standard and it was achieved by doing a spring over conversion which is where you re-fabricate the spring perches onto the top of the diff and then the springs go over the diff instead of underneath....Glad you like the look of my 73 Cruiser and you will have to keep your eye out for my posts as you never no what pics will show up
