It feels like every day we have less freedom. I hate the current government. Everyone who gets done should go to court and keep appealing and complaining and campaigning until the government has no option but to get rid of these laws. The only problem is that the police are only going to target imports, so the general public wont be affected and wont care. |

Im with all fairness for the drink driving/unlicensed etc, but the modification laws from my point of view are just way to harsh. Feel free to disagree, but what is the actual go as people have already mentioned in terms of laws superseading other laws, if your pod filter for example complies with the laws which have been in place for a long time (being secured in the engine bay, or having it sectioned off from other parts of the engine bay) will these new laws just over-ride them and say, no that's not suitable ull need to have that mod-plated? |

BUT if you drive through the other areas e.g. Ipswich or Noosa you are subject to the laws. so say u go to a thing up the coast or out at willobank to watch u can get done to. i think this is crap the amount of cops that will be out and a bout handing out bull crap defects just to get the cars off the road. hmm i just found out how im gonna be a millionare by next yr. become a tow truck driver lol |

Some do, most get off on having the power and using it to be a @#$!. I can see this, as alot of other police powers now, is going to be abused. Show respect and 99% of Police will respect you back. Ive been pulled over doing the stupidest things, in the stupidest of places, driving some stupid cars...but never felt that ive been on the receiving end of "abuse of power". |

I had heard about it several months ago and a topic was posted with reference, however it didn't have the same hype. Being a trial removes that necessity. You and the several thousand car enthusiasts riot against the rest of the 4 million people in Queensland - I'm sure the Government's going to be scared ![]() QUOTE(Supachargd @ Jul 4 2007, 03:04 PM) FUCKOFF noone is going to take my car permenately!!! wtf and they say communism is shit, lol back 60 years ago not even in russia someone didnt have this much freedom, there is now way somebody can just take your property off you, and if people will allow it there will be a new standard set. Most people think iam just one i cant do shit, but together people can , this vehicle impounding shit was started by beatie, who is doing other marvelous work, like people not having water to drink. There is no way anybody will be taking my car of me period. you will see if this law goes ahead howmany people out there will be against the police and i wouldnt be surprised if the amount of cops being shot will double. The best protest is to gather everybody up on a busy friday from about 6am and modified or non modified cars just startt cruisin the streets of the city, every single car, will cause so much chaos that there will be hours of traffic, then get beatie to remove these gay laws. And they say australia is full of freedom. lol. QUOTE(xxxx69 @ Jul 4 2007, 04:08 PM) Im deffinately getting US citizenship as soon as i can...im sick of this australian dictatorship bullshit and the general agressiveness and attacking by authorities towards younger people...dont they realise in not too long we will be supporting thier arses?! Yeh because the United States is so much better. Can I recommend going and living in California? It's really lax when it comes to modified cars ![]() QUOTE(PSIcotik_Soarer @ Jul 4 2007, 04:09 PM) and under the new laws it will be illegal 9(1) Drive motor vehicle with silencing device modified so as to reduce effectiveness 9(2) Modify vehicle’s silencing device so as to reduce effectiveness I guess that same will apply for many mods which are currently legal and will no longer be. The law can get fucked. If its currently legal and we have conformed to specs then we should not get punished with these new laws. These are NOT NEW LAWS. Those clauses have existed for years, the only difference is that the car could be impounded for breaching the Vehicle Standards Acts. You've always been able to be defected for modifying your exhaust. However the people who ever get those tickets tended to be the ones who were complete smartass's to the officer and were asking for it. QUOTE(Innocent_Commuter @ Jul 4 2007, 05:36 PM) btw, you wont be able to keep the money from when they sell the car. It goes back to the goverment. You thought they'd take your car and give you the money for it? Hahaha. This isn't taking your house to build a freeway. You broke the law no less than four times for the same thing, as a result they're going to do something to really get the message through. QUOTE(200sx_s13 @ Jul 4 2007, 06:39 PM) Can everyone say communism? lol Communism. Doesn't exist here. Maybe you should research exactly what happens in post-communist countries such as Russia, and learn the small differences between their laws and ours. I think you may appreciate the difference when you realise that having your whinge here results in the Government rolling their eyes, doing it in Russia results in the FSB assassinating you. ![]() I see nothing, apart from the topic starter's INTERPRETATION of what they BELIEVE is coming out according to a MEDIA report. I can see nothing that says any modification that isn't a factory item or blue plated is illegal. I see it saying if it doesn't meet the Vehicle Standards, dictated by ADRs and NCOPs, it will be illegal. Just as it was. If you put a pod filter on and it's secured, there's no problem. If you put new wheels in and they do not change the rolling diameter by +15mm/-26mm and have the correct load rating, there's no problem. Besides - Am I the only one to know very similar laws already apply in Victoria? *puts on shorts and t-shirt* ROCK ON R~R |

There's no such thing as freedom of speech. It's an IMPLIED right. So seeing as you're so learned about communism and what it's like, it confuses me how you can start claiming this country (ignoring the fact it's State legislation) is communist. Funnily enough though, last time I checked Vietnam still IS classified as a communist country ![]() But hey, what would I know, I didn't live in Vietnam ![]() ROCK ON R~R |

well when u have been defected driving a stock standard vehicle with a factory cold are intake then how are these laws fair? also under the laws anything apart from the factory fitted exhaust size is illegal, as there already is a law that says that u cannot change ur exhaust diameter from factory standards however it is rarely enforced, now with these rules getting stricter id be willing 2 bet nearly everyone on this site has there exhaust modified, even urself |

QUOTE(wat'r @ Jul 4 2007, 07:45 PM) A copy of my post on CB: **********NOBODY PANIC******** Just spoke to Traffic Branch. The onlything that has changed is the penality i.e. you go to court. and if busted for an offence under the same 'umberella' i.e illegal mods, in a 3 year period.... you get 48 hours with the car you were driving when busted (yours or not) e.g. You can have an after market steering wheel as long as is is of the legal size and not made of wood (for example) you can have an after market exhaust....as long as it complys with noise limits etc, etc, etc. Basically..... no more fines and loss of points.... every offence goes to court where the penality is decided by the magistrate. So....... do the right thing and you'll be fine. Don't let the Government and do-gooders in society win. Keep it legal and stay on the road. So.... If it was a legal modification that does not require a Mod Plate..... it still doesn't (eg steering wheel) If it was a legal modification that requires a mod plate..... it still does ( eg engine conversion ) There are no new laws.... just the way in which penalities are dished out have changed. i.e. off to court for a lot of things now. Remember this is not in Brizzy or the Gold Coast.(yet) so you talked to the traffic branch ya self? if soo, thats really good to hear. ![]() ![]() |

All tho, I would assume giving somebody a court apperance date is less paper work then a defect ![]() But not to bad none the less, If its sometime small, Or if the traffic police ACCIDENTLY get it wrong, And your mod is legal, Atleast you get a fair go at court to explain and tell them its legal. I hope they also do this for unroadworthy cars tho. All in all, Im actually happy about the way they will now handle defects. Like RX4_guy above me said, no more bs defects ![]() |
