I know for a fact they have 4.11 and 4.3.

Also i believe 5.3 or 5.2? Not sure.

As for changing diffs, Your talking about bolting the newer centers in?

Im pritty sure the old hilux diffs are 31 spline? If they are the same spline axles you SHOULD be able to bolt the centres in. They might be a little smaller tho?

i work for a 4x4 shop and have a fair bit of experience with arb airlockers.
all 4x4 hilux's have 28 spline axles.
petrol and diesels have different ratios.4.3 and 4.5:1
some early models had different ratios however.some had 4.8's.
in 1997 toyota brought out the ifs diff and they were different to earlier diffs.
if your airlocker is a rear,it will fit in the front or rear of a pre 97 hilux.

all hilux live diffs are 30 spline.. except the IFS diff which are 27....

if the 2002 modle still runs the G series diff (im 99.99% sure it does..not sure about the latset modle tho)then the air locker will come out of that center and fit any other G seires diff.. IE, all the hilux's the way back to the early 70's.. so it wont mater what ratio it is.. just use the locker in your centter.. or put your Ring Gear and Pinion in the 2002 center the locker is in.

you should count again dickhead.
i did an airlocker in one yesterday, they are 28 spline.
current hilux 4x4 rear is the same as all early rear hilux's,though some early ones need a carrier bearing change.the airlocker part number is rd23,it suits hilux, prado, landcruiser front in 75,78,79,80 and 100 series.
they are very interchangeable.

If you give me the transaxle code off the compliance plate I'll tell you what ratio your diff is. It will be the G number I want.

I have a 3.54 lsd in my 2wd lux. Bought the gearset many years ago. Its not a standard ratio, but should still be available. At 100km/hr i'm only doing 2200rpm. Has plenty of legs though!
Standard in my 99 2wd, auto, was 3.7, which is still a pretty good ratio for you.

this is what the older 4x4 hiluxs had
NOTE: the 2wd ones would have soem differnt ratios i woudl assum due to the differnt wheel and tires sizes

1979-1985 3.90, 4.10, 4.30, 4.38

1986-1995 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88

there are heaps of other toyota passanger cars that run the same diff such as the supra, hiace, cressida, crown etc... but still the lowest stock ratio u will get is 3.9... theres a lot of aftermarket gears avalable tho to get down even lower. try calling around some 4x4 shops
my hilux diff im runing a supra torsen LSD and going to use either the 4.1 or 3.9 in my gemini
