Just watched a report on A Current Affair about a Japanese Import place where they wind back the odometers on the cars to make it look like they have less milage, hence increasing the price. in some examples the KM's had been put back about 90,000k's! If you're in Queensland you may still be able to catch it becuase Vic is an hour ahead. I think its a pretty poor effort to trick people into spending more... -------------------- Need a part number? Another thing to do is a VCheck cert on cars that have been here a while, mine was newly registered in 2003 with 64,500 by a dealer, then two transfers with very little K's, and then between the last entry and the guy I bought it from (since K's are only marked when rego transfers), it had done upto the 83,000. This did strike me as odd, but I wasn't overly worried, the condition of the car was great, and I looked at a few |

but i thought Japanese drivers only drove around 5,000km a year due to the fact that they have such high highway/city taxes to use roads... |

QUOTE(LUDEcrs @ Mar 1 2007, 11:40 PM) . In 02 I believe Holden introduced a prevailent, to the Monaro's anyway.... if the Monaro is over 100,000km's the clock can't be wound back without spending about $3K. You can't swap odometers in them apparently either... whether or not this is true, is just speculation at this time. Anyone care to comment? for $350 i can get that fixed ![]() |

QUOTE(Calculon @ Mar 2 2007, 09:24 AM) Dont buy an import off of a dealership. No import in any yard has true k's on it. So buying one privately would be alright? How did imports get here in the first place, most likely through dealers. My friend got a soarer not to long ago it has 171,000klms and was in oz for only 2 years and the dude left it in storage for a while. Since its a 92 model we saw these as genuine klms so he got it even though there was another with with 100,000klm less at the same price but was a little worse for wear. |
