Hey, I'm trying to find out some information about Holden Rodeo front end conversions. If i wanted to buy an older rodeo such as a 1989-1996, how would i go about fitting a newer front end 1997-2002?. Would it fit on all year models of the earlier series? Or only a particular few. What mods does it involve/amount of work?, Also what would be a rough guess on cost?

Regards Shaun.

Basically....the bare cabs from '88 TF up to before the RA came out are identical (there were changes in the chassis though. This means you can swap over the whole front end from the boxy TF to the more rounded R9. You can't however (without major surgery) mix & match - has to be one or the other. The R9 bonnet is a completely different profile to the TF.

Okay. So if i was to get a new front end. I would need new bonnet, two guards, grill, lights etc etc? Is there anything structural that would need changing? or is it simpily bolt on stuff?

hey mate,
if you need parts i'm in the middle of changing my rodeo front end to a completely custom one and have parts such as front grille in standard grey (with chrome holden badge) and a Chrome front grille i now longer require aswell as as a black front bar (standard one) and lower apron with indicators.

if you're interested in buying a few parts for cheap send a msg my way.

Hey Ryan, interestingly the R9 grill fits on no probs with the TF bonnet & guards drool.gif

There is a little gap under the corner indicators where it doesn't quite wrap around fully, but the bonnet shuts no probs. With a little bit of fiberglassing I reckon I can fill those side gaps, & if I graft the leading edge of the R9 bonnet to the TF one it would look like a factory fit - also means can be used it with MU guards as well. facesjump.gif

Also definitely want that bar centre - you take $60 for it?

87Kid, i live in Brisbane (greenbank to be more specific) $60 for grille (perfect condition)

That's excellant about the grille mate, it's nice when things just work for once.
i'm glad things seeming to be panning out for ya.

i'll accept $70 for the bar and meet you half way, hows that sound?

let me know via msg or a call?

cheers lads.

I have a tf 92 rodeo and have just about finished a s13 sr20det conversion it was costly and tricky . I made a lot of mistakes and plan changes . It started as a straght swap and now will be a 12 to 13 sec 1/4 street sleeper with two much money spent on it . Due to the fact of doing the conversion in the nt everthing is more costly and not allways avable. This ute hasto be road regesterd and look legal. It has a au radiator a xe twin thermo standerd rodeo engine mount's redrilled a coustom - 3" mandral exhaust ,intercooler pipes ,are front mount intercooler ,rear crossmember , aurtronic sm4 (with trackshon control, boost control, luanch control , wot - wide open throttle change ) just to stay in some control it will be fun. Just thinking of chaining the garret gt 25/28 300hp low mount two a hks gtrs high mount so i can still fit a/c and power steering things are tight on the turbo side. This ute will be fun when i finsh it it is olney 1010kg and around 220kw at the wheels i hope.
