auto or manual?

and i always stick by it depends how you drive it.

but i have heard (so dont take it as a fact lol) that they tend to give way once your makin 250+rwhp

you could probably do it though just treat it with some respect

well its a manual. but i have been told by a few shops that it will need to be replaced but i have also seen a few making over 250rwhp with standard box. i plan to have 300rwhp so im hoping to not have to strengthen or uprgrade the box.

Sure it can handle it.. ..But for how long?
If you have 350rwhp and a chunky clutch (i assume) and you start shnap'ing through gears, i would not expect it to last long. Depends on how you drive i suppose.

Well car makes near 300 still has the RB gearbox in it and mine gets a bit of a using and she is stronger then ever it really depends on the clutch and how you treat her

well i will be upgrading the clutch before the power goes in. what clutch do you have 200sx?
or what would be a suitable clutch for that power?

i would go an organic plate clutch.. dont put a brass button or anything hardcore in it, unless you want to replace the gearbox every couple of weeks..

is an organic plate clutch softer on the gearbox but can still handle that power?

(car will not be drifted)

i run a heavy duty clutch works a charm takes a bashing and is so light and easy to use.

thats the best advise so far given.. these box's are shit. and die after a thashing at about 250+hp.. they are the same as a VL n/a box but have about 1/4 the k's. these box;s are as week as piss and u should just put a r33 box in smile.gif

ok and for a min of $1500 just 4 a box (but there soo hard to get some jap wreakers are selling them for over $2000) then the cost with the install and all the other crap that goes with it

rb20det boxes are good just depends how hard u are on it

i had 250rwkw for over 3yrs and the box copped the biggest floggen in its life and never missed a beat (that included 7000rpm launches ,flat shiften through all gears etc)

just dont put a short shifter in it and it will last longer

and u are basing ur opinion on???
im not sayin that rb20 boxes are tough but gee ive had my old box for 3 1/2 years running 200+ hp and it took it like a champ till i missed a gear he he then it decided to go to a better place
the current box is holdin up ok but for how long who knows but i think it has to also come down to how u drive it maybe some ppl need lession in chaging gears smashing gears and flat changing will break anybox if u do it harnd enough and long enough

well i think i will see how long i can ride the standard box out ofr then. yeah 33 boxes seem expensive. maybe it would be cheaper to rebuild a standard one with stronger bits???
