Federal Court Ruling from the Melbourne Age, Australia (AP) -
A seven year old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama yesterday. When he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with the child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents, the
boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was
apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the English
Cricket Team, whom the boy firmly believes are "not capable of beating anyone."

Hey guys and gals.

Was thinking of doing something fun with the NRL and AFL competition. This won't be a full tipping competition but a knockout competition. Entry is free and there will be a cash prize at the end - the prize money will depend on how far through you get.

Each week you pick just one team that you think will win their game that week. Obviously the first week will be only NRL to pick from but after the AFL starts it'll be one winner from 16 games - not too hard right?

OK the rules are as follows - you can't pick the same team twice two weeks in a row. You have until the kick off time of the first game of the round to submit your tips. Anything edited after that time will not be counted and you are automatically knocked out.

As we get further into the season the rules change slightly to make it harder. After Round 12 of the AFL and Round 14 of the NRL you will not be able to pick a Top of the Ladder team that is facing a Bottom of the Ladder team. I'll make this clearer when these rounds come up.

If we have a winner before the Season's end I will start up a new competition the very next round. I may even have them overlapping if we get down to the Final 2. Once again I will make this clearer if/when it happens.

Also, you can't join half way through - you are in at the beginning or you can wait for the next round.

I was going to make a new thread for this but wanted to get an idea if people were interested first and check if I can start a new thread just for this or if it's better to leave it here.

Round 1 starts on the 16th of March so you all have time to decide.

you know what would be much easier - doing it on the afl tipping site. you can set up competitions on there.

gemzu
Post #346

I don't want a full competition though - too much effort - too many choices - this is a quicker easier comp.

Meh if no one wants to play it'll get scrapped I guess.

complicated? i tried reading the suggestion and couldn't follow it.

actually, i think there is a competition organised out in the general sections somewhere. check closer to the date.

gemzu
Post #350

NRL only - no one wants to touch AFL that's why I thought this would be fun and different.

Oh well another attempt and failure.

I reckon that's about 4-5 now!! Come onnnn World Record
