Heheehe. Was good fun bought back memories of days past in burnout comps. Might have to make sure the ute has a tacho or speedo at least next time so I can actually guage what speed/revs im doing lol. A working temp guage might help a little too I think.

Sounds like everyone had a good day.

I couldn't even get down there to spectate in the end.

I would like to reserve a spot for the next one. Car will be ready for Mini Jam in March so any time after that is good smile.gif

I think it is strange we haven't heard from Nollsy, blue rx7 or the 180sx guy from Harvey? Their banter was very amusing!

next race definately during winter!

nice cold air, and a warm track surface wink.gif mmm

WattsyLX
Post #1442

Only problems with winter is the track is pretty busy leading into events like the Tin Tops, Winternats, Jamboree, etc....

might be hard to get a free weekend.

But then again, i wouldnt mind sharing the track with people like the Bray's or Stevens for the day! tongue.gif

Well done Ang. I enjoyed the day. Was farkin hot day, but you can't control the weather so can't complain on that front. Apart from that I don't think there was anything that could/should be changed. Don't even think the track prep was a problem (though my at blisteringly fast time I'd would really know). No point prepping a track for 90% of the cars that were there I reckon and I'd say if it weren't for the rain the previous day it probably would have been sticker again.

and the 10% who needed it.. Just supposed to turn around and go home? When it's not prepped it gets quite dangerous for cars/bikes that run quicker times. You are right though, if it hadnt rained the night before, it may of been fine. But it wasnt. I'd rather 100% be safe, then only 90%. dunno.gif Just my opinion..

one of the highlights of the day for me was delliii chucking a little hissy fit about holding the pole most of the day, then just dropped it so the tarp landed over us all, and kurt (nutta) screaming "JUST PUT THE FUCKING TARP UP YOU FUCKER!!"

LMAO!!!!

ang only thing i wanna see is more spots.... surely it can be done judging by TNT nights

angels666
Post #1448

It can be but it costs more ... and I can't begin to explain what a struggle it was to fill the 80 spots in the end.

Everyone "SAYS" they are all keen but when it comes to paying for the event it's a different story ... trust me.

Few highlights for me were.

- Steves top gear skids
- cressida skids
- manic 200b's gearbox breaking skid
- that light truck
- not knowing which side to watch when roweys car was pulling a skid.
- warney in his best shirt
- 20gle not breaking a box

I'll put my hand up for the next one, its a pity the WRX, Skyline or ET were not ready to race..... least my spot got put to good use biggrin.gif

Ang had a great day.. beer.gif BTW i wasnt the one that was sunburnt it was andrea lol..

Watched the video yesturday afternoon and there were some awesome burnouts done yesturday...

Im just proud that i kept kicking mitchell's arse. everytime he got a good run i would come along and beat him... He put it down to him weighing more than i did but i just think im the better driver tongue.gif

My best: 16.74 secs @ 80.91 M.P.H
Mitchell's best 16.85 secs @ 79.77 M.P.H

W00T Pretty good for a stock rodeo

Put us down for the next one and will have a faster car... sad.gif very upset we couldnt get the gsr running right.

Anyone got pictures of the rodeo???

I thought i'd be selling you my spare MY99 box by the end of the day haha.

6-speed conversion FTW, don’t waste your money on anything else IMO (for the price these things go for these days & superior reliability over the gearset upgraded 5-speed's its a great upgrade - with proven multiple 10 sec passes from a full weight MY03 STi strength biggrin.gif).

hehehe i'll keep you in mind if i need a quick replacement until i get a new one then wink.gif

yeah i've had a couple of people suggest that a 6 speed may be the way to go, others who say just rebuild 1st through to 3rd, others who say get the whole dog box set up. I don't know if i could handle the constant whine! so hmm some research to be done i think.

No way! 80 spots was great!

The best part of the day was that you didnt have to line up for two hours to get a run! You could go out and do two runs, head back to the pits to try and get things right, then straight back out and down the track within minutes! At times some of the old schoolers had to have a bit of a spell to let things cool down a bit as it was so constant!

Doesn't worry me that much as for the cost, but makes it a bit unfair (and it's quite often hard to get people to put up the cash as it is without bumping the price up). Hell I spend more money on holding my crappy CAMS licence every year than what Ang charged for this.

Ohh and highlight of the day was definitely watching Sims driving BLC's truck around.

I agree, 80 spots was a good number. Besides look how long it took to have those 80 spots filled and paid for in their entirety. Imagine poor Ang if she had to manange and chase after more people than that! ohmy.gif
Plus those who want to race know they have to get in early to reserve a spot.

I think PSI999 has heard this from a rather reliable source as to how strong those 6-speeds are (and how not worth it any of the dogbox options are compared to it).
/edit just something to keep in mind. I know I wouldn't want a straight cut dogbox in any car I wanted to drive around on the street.

i don't doubt it - i was just relaying some of the many options people have told me to consider when thinking about upgrading my gearbox. and yeah as i said before i'm not keen on going the straight cut dog box for the street so the six speed for me may be quite a viable option.

in the meantime i'm just gathering as much info as i can on possible options smile.gif

Dont worry, next year the Holley is getting the flick and the good ol' Q'Jet is going back on..... so there will be none of this going back to the pits stuff! tongue.gif

30+ pfftttt...... i stuffed around half the day trying to get these shitty Holley carbs right, stopped for an hour's break to go and annoy the wife and have a feed and i still got 12 runs in!! tongue.gif
I'll be aiming for 35+ next year!! tongue.gif

What was everyones best reaction time?? After running crap ETs i tried to nail a good light to try and holeshot a few on most runs... best of .490! (.400 is perfect)

Well, next time, as Ang has said, track prep will be included. So those who dont want to pay a little bit extra (for everyones safety) can give it a miss. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way having a stab at you! Just wanted to give you the opinion's of those that need traction to make the day enjoyable and not spent trying to keep it off the wall.

Highlight was seeing a few faces I hadn't seen in a long while!

Straight cut syncro could be an option, it really depends on how much power you want to make and how fast you want to go.

Sounds like your all over it though, just do as much research as you can before laying down your hard earnt cash.

(fyi - a full 6-speed conversion your looking at about 5.5k (non DCCD sti 6-speed, and 5-speed automatic tailshaft (may also need a ratio change in your diff, but i've got one at home that will suit your car anyways haha)...... you'll never break it and will still be worth just as much in the future if you pull it out and want to sell it).
