Hello boys & girls, long time lurker, first time poster here.

I am wondering what is the best way to write of a car? My "friend" wink.gif has a silvia which he has insured for a few $1000 over market value. He wants to upgrade, and as he will get more $ if the insurance pays off compared to what he could get from selling it, he is thinking of writing the car off.

What is the best way? Having a crash? Getting a mate to steal it & burn it (btw, has 3point immobilser)? Park it in a dodgy part of town & get mate to break into the car, steal deck, vandalise it & set it on fire?

Anyone have any info they would like to share? Any experienced friends/relatives in the know? Anyone know what the insurance company will do (investigating etc)?

Thanks in advance.

PS yes I realise that my mate is a dickhead. I will make sure that I let him know.

INSURANCE FRAUD?

hmmm...gotta think about that one.

Seriously man..(Tell your mate) Don't do illegal stuff like that, it reflects badly on character.

PLUS...'your mate' will increase the premium, albeit tiny increments, to the REST OF AUSTRALIAN DRIVERS.
