Boostcruising's Official Peter Brock Memorial Cruise. Cruise, BBQ, Show'n'Shine, and more! After the tragic incident that happened today to one of the greatest race car drivers of our modern generation and past, it is a sad day for all motor enthusiasts. It's not been a great week for australian citizens and has saddened all by this tragidy. On the 24th of September (this Sunday!) we will be holding a memorial cruise in honour of Peter Brock. The details will be as follows: - Date - 24th September 2006 Destination - Somerset Dam. Meeting Spots - As Follows. MEETING LOCATIONS:- Gold Coast/Southside/NSW - NOTICE: Come via the Gateway, the Brisbane Riverside Expressway will be ClOSED!!! Where: BP Coomera Time: Meeting - 9.30am -10.00am Departing: 10.00am on the dot. Location Leader - HSV Look out for Hilux 4WD Things you will need - Full tank of fuel, happy face, common sense and $2.50 for the toll. Northside/Western/Central and Southern Brisbane - Where: Aspley Hypermarket Carpark Time: Meeting - 10.30am - 11.00am Departing: 11.30am on the dot Location Leader: Newlyawaken (boost username) Things you will need - Full tank of fuel, happy face, common sense PLEASE NOTE: I understand we have a few people coming from Harvey Bay/Sunshine Coast for this memorial cruise. Due to school holidays and the expected busy period for the major servo's we have moved the MAIN MEETING LOCATION TO ASPLEY HYPERMARKET, and the exact route is below. If you are unaware how to get there please contact myself via PM or HSV. Thank you. Matt THE DRIVE TO SOMERSET DAM Once we have left Aspley Hypermarket we will be heading inland. With a large turnout expected i will be seeking lots of common sense whilst leaving Aspley Hypermarket. No wannabe's/skids/stupidity. REMEMBER, THIS IS A MEMORIAL CRUISE!! ROUTE DETAILS LEAVING FROM ASPLEY HYPERMARKET Starting Location: Aspley Hypermarket (reset trip meter here!) 0k - Turn RIGHT onto Albany Creek Road 5.6k - Turn RIGHT onto South Pine Road 6.6k - Turn LEFT onto Eatons Crossing Road 13.6k - CATCH UP POINT (no traffic lights from here on in) - Pull over for a couple minutes a while up the road to allow others to catch up. 16.5k - Turn RIGHT onto Mt Samson Road (follow signs to Dayboro) 36.8k Turn RIGHT onto Williams St (follow signs to Woodford) 37.1k Turn LEFT onto Mt Mee Road (folow signs to Woodford) 72.5k Turn LEFT onto D`Aguilar Highway (follow signs to Esk) 100.4k Turn LEFT onto Mary St / D`Aguilar Highway 100.8k Turn RIGHT onto Hope St / D`Aguilar Highway 102.8k Turn LEFT into Esk-Kilcoy Road (follow signs to Somerset Dam) 124.1k Turn LEFT into "The Spit" entrance (enter Somerset Dam) 124.1k LUNCH STOP - Lunch will be provided at minimum / no cost. (Expected Arrival between 12.30PM and 1.00PM) 150.0k Turn LEFT onto Brisbane Valley Road (Follow Signs to Esk) END CRUISE - This is the end, follow back to Ipswitch Motorway via Esk or your own way home. MINI SHOW AND SHINE ON THE DAY!! Ok guys, trophys being made as we speak and I must say they are looking mighty flash, certainly no cheap stuff here. Categories for the mini show and shine will be as follows: Top 4cyl Top 6cyl Top V8 Top Overall Top 4WD/AWD So get some of these show ponies out there, chance to win a trophy is on offer, going to be a top day. On this day i would appreciate everyone's stuipidity to be left at home. I don't want to see ppl doing burnouts/halting traffic on the highway to race other cars. If i do see any of this i have no hesitation to grab your plates and inform the proper authorities. Other things you may wish to bring - *Arm chairs once at the spit *Alternative lunch/picnic lunch if you wish *Maybe a footy/soccer ball to relax with your mates I really hope we can all pull together on this day as a motoring community to show our respects to one of the all round great blokes PB. BYO, donation, how? a member of this site has kindly donated 20kg of sausages and bread rolls. atm the only thing i'm still looking at is eskies/ice/drinks for the day. if there will be any costs involved it will only be to cover the costs of the drinks if any costs at all. i will be making a informative update later this week and will be added to the original post. thank you. matt |
