how much was quoted for this job?

I can just imagine you were searching for a cheap retrim..

i'm suprised someone has commented on the picture quality tongue.gif

just kidding btw wink.gif

Mate that is a terrible job. As sims said how much was your friend quoted for the job. I believe this has been asked about 5-10 times and you haven't answered? Don't want to say cuz it's too much and you'd be embarrased or is it really cheap hence such a shitty job.

Regardless of the cost i would not pay. I'd also be getting them to have the car fully detailed by a professional car cleaner once it has been REDONE to get rid of the shit (dust and crap) that has coated the car.

Hell... Work experience kids could do a MUCH better job than whoever did that.

That is the most horrendous re-trim I have EVER seen. I have seen cars destroyed in fatal car accidents and their interiors looked better than that!

That's what we all thought at work.. Someone decided a $2k complete retrim in leather/suede is better than what it should be worth.
IMHO, to do that properly you'd be looking at paying atleast $9,000. I get the feeling that's not what you were planning on paying unsure.gif

Can someone PM me who did this please (and the quote, if they know)
This poor guy's inbox must be chockers!

After showing everyone here at work (and taking copious amounts of piss out of it), we've all decided that it's more than woeful sad.gif
We'd NEVER let anything like this leave our workshop..

Good luck getting it all sorted thumbsup.gif

Ok, once again, the business name wont be named here, because if it was, then the thread would be closed, and then people wouldnt find out at all, so simply pm me. smile.gif (don't be lazy and ask me to pm you tongue.gif your the one who wants to know lol )

The cost of the job was quoted at $5500. Only a $1000 deposit was paid when the car was dropped off.

The job was supposed to take 3-4 weeks, we were able to contact him about week 3 and he said, yeah another week. when we tried to contact him after that there was no answer, no reply, nothing for 2 weeks. thats when we went looking for him and the car.

There is no point in sueing him, we only paid $1000 and a judge could easily say that we should have at least paid for the materials used at a cost of $1800 or whatever, so we would be even more out of pocket. However, there isnt really much stopping this guy just closing his shop today, and re-opening tomorrow under a different name - then there is nothing to sue. rant2.gif

As far as roadworthy, see the pic of the steering wheel? the airbag mechinism needs replacing now, and the seatbelt lower anchors arnt there to connect the front seatbelts to. the engine is making a shocking noise (sounds like an induction howl but its comming from the engine, not the air intake -and there is no pod)

The car is at a mechanics atm who is quoting how much it will be to take the car back to a roadworthy standard, i'll let you all know how it goes when i find out.

And as said previously, this job was done by someone who had some pretty nice work in the past, and had done some sweet show cars.. so this was certainly not expected.

I'd say the $5500 price tag - you get what you pay for.

Isn't the cost of materials etc. offset by the damage/loss in value he has caused by giving the car such a shonky trim and thrashing it? Have you sought legal advice on the matter?

I think its pretty funny that FEEEKy wasnt part of many forums til he decided to throw some guys name acroosss the internet, for a story that no-one understands.

I wouldnt pay for that job

But i know who the trimmer was, and many of you who haved bagged it out have also drooled over his previous works many times

Yeah, I'm with you..

its a shit job.. thats for sure.. but like zilla said earlier.. you'd be paying close to 10k for a mint job like this...

Bringing up the price quoted is kind of irrelevant here.

Look at the state of the car... Its not even roadworthy anymore!

It reminds me of us getting our skyline repsrayed by "a certain company who shall remain nameless but gets their name plugged every 3 seconds on the internet". We went there and asked for a price to repsray the car in white with a slight pearl through it. We were given a price. When the job was finished, the car was complete shit. Massive paint runs, orange peel, etc. Obviously we whinged, and after several visits finally got it to an acceptable standard although with much bad grace and comments that really shirted me off. One was "This is what you get for a cheap repsray" (we never asked for a CHEAP repsray!) and another "Cars leave factory like this" (if a car ever left any factory like that, the quality control guys would get their arses kicked)....

I can imagine something similiar happened here. Can you really imagine the guy went into "that company" and said "Look I dont care how arse my car looks, I want to give you 5k to fuck up my car with poor quality workmanship and dodgy materials"....??

The standard of that work isnt even first year apprentice work. How can anyone running a legitimate business even pretend that work is acceptable? I dont care how cheap a job was, I would *NEVER* pass off such shitty workmanship.

Oh and I dunno about "lots of cars" from that company that we've drooled over.... I took a tour around their incredibly professional web page (lawl, lawl, oh lawl!) and saw all of 1 car thats been done, and I would hardly get over excited by the standard of that either...

wtf. i would cry if that was my car...

what is it that you don't understand? feel free to pm me any questions smile.gif

i wouldn't exactly say any of his previous work was drool-able... good, but not that good. its like a quality control issue, some companys used to make nice cakes, and the quality just went to shit over the years... it happens with almost every business in just about every industry regarding any product.
