... Are you on drugs? Slow?

I'm sorry is a 13second pass supposed to be fast these days???

Sorry but times don't get interesting unless they're MINIMUM 12s and under, besides I'm only taking a shot at the guy for being a dooshbag.

haha you say he makes himself look like an idiot then you go and make a couple of stupid comments like that to prove that you really do know nothing

have a look at his MPH .... there's more to a quick car than ET's
MPH gives you more indication of how quick a car really is than it's ET

mmmm so either he can't drive or his car / engine setup isn't the best

with a mph like that he should be in the 10's he isn't so there's nothing flash about it

mph give an indication of what a car should be doing, that is all! the scary thing would b why it's nearly 3 seconds of the pace

on another note, feel for u guys,

the best thing to do is just be proactive like your trying, going back to the street's isn't going to help the situation, just make it worse

So who has Judy Spence’s email address?

I think she should receive many emails re this topic. I am not a drifter so it doesn’t really affect me but it is pretty clear that the decision goes against all of the “enough is enough” BS that we see on TV/radio etc.

it is a driving centre foremost so i guess they wanna show more education then reckless type of behaviour even if its in or on a track etc.

guess they want the drifters off the streets but keep pressuring track facilities into condone the drifting

yep drifting coming to a street near you courtousy of judy spence and the goverment smile.gif

whilst i agree that banning drift days, closing down tracks etc is stupid... the fact is that most people out there are not willing to pay the fees involved in participating in track events, the fees charged due to massive public liabilty costs...

The car scene is full of people who take their interest in motorsport not quite as seriously as their interest in doin a hectic burnout to pull tha chicks...

Sad to see this, but unfortunatly a matter of time. I recieved a letter from "Honourable Judy Spence MP, Minister for Police and Corrective Services" which had this little titbit which i found amusing in regards to facilities for people to congegrate at.
So its a 4 year old study theyre relying on to blatantly bring in more revenue, without doing anything to help the growing problem they have, with "hoon" behaviour............

Ben,
You might want to reply to Ms Spence again as, out of interest, I contacted the Centre for Automotive Safety Research and spoke to the Information Manager, Andrew Meier.
He sent me the appropriate report and it has NOTHING to do with providing safe, legal alternatives to street racing. Its a report on the effects of speed in crashes.

Heres a link to the PDF of the report....

True, but think of it as a good way to get the media involved. Even if the petition doesn't work, the government won't have the best publicity if it gets out that they've done a such a hugel backflip.

that'd probably backfire unfortunately... the media hates young ppl driving cars.

12.6? thats not a 12?? dunno.gif rolleyes.gif

I don’t drift, but fear what's next. Ban on track days? No more willowbank? It's a shame "we", "car enthusiasts" are such a small group.. If there were more us, maybe someone would listen.. Possibly one day we may get that respect... rolleyes.gif

Maybe if all car enthusiasts had a peaceful protest through town and disrupted the (politicions) lifestyle and showed them there are some serious issues to be looked at. Look at the v8 supercars that inject over 78 million dollars into the QLD economy they need to provide for us other wise they are just asking for more accidents on the streets as more and more people will just start to go underground. Any other suggestions ?I know it would take alot of organizing but just complaining on forums nothing is going to be changed we are always getting taged as hoons so lets show them otherwise and do something about it!!!! Thats not the problem mate, we have enough people. It just everyones got an opinion on how Car Enthusists should approach the government with our concerns yet no one wants to be the public face behind it all. Also it's easier to just put your 2 cents in and then sit back and let someone else do the hard work. For us to progress and to lose this "Hoon" tag that George and Betty Oldfolk have given us we need to come together as a community and work as one and follow one or two people who would represent us. I try my hardest when ever i can to show people that it's the majority of us that want to do the right thing. It's only the bogans and the dickhead rich kids with too much money that spoil it for the rest of us.

Interesting... We were booking Mt Cotton for a skidpan/drift event, and were advised similarily that they were no longer allowing dedicated drift days..

I had also been advised that the dB meters at the track were set to 62dB and if you set them off you would be kicked off the track.. apparently Mt Cotton don't want 'hoons'...

We're now looking at using Gympie, although they are also now professing 'NO DRIFTING ALLOWED'.. tho we're looking at it from a skidpan perspective, learning oversteer and understeer in the wet... tho a full on drift day would have been nice :/

my guess the police got to the government saying if you ban track days for drifting we can get more money and less as they call us hoons off the street up here in mackay all we have is a grass drifting track

Mr_RS4
Post #87

Well I know where I work there is a hot drifting spot that in the past few weeks the numbers have grown a lot. But I work in a large industrial estate with wide streets and no residential areas around so no one cares, plus they don't come down until later at night and we are the only place in the area open, so although its illegal its pretty safe and they're keeping it off the surburbon / built up streets where others are likley to get hurt. So at least these guys are smart about it. But the government does need to start looking into ways to improve / increase the off road facilities around the greater brisbane area rather than just punishing us all.

I am from nsw but this forum got me hooked hearing responses from all of u and yes i agree also that taking away drift from a designated driver training facility is just rediculous... rather than them saying it will stop drivers from doing so they are just pushing it more underground where lives will be lost.. where in a controlled environment their will be a conciderable amount less.... yes there will be a few "wana be's" out there who will do the wrong thing.. but ever since there were cars their were idiots out on the road...

In regards to scuzzy's post above
i had a look on the courier mail website and found the article on it.. there is a section underneath the article where u can express ur concerns and opinions on the issue...

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0...23-3102,00.html

theres the link for anyone who is interested in posting their comments on the newspaper website..

smile.gif i hope i could help ur situation in that respect..

Guys whats the problem, lets support there new rules and go drifting around school areas and crouded neighbourhoods, im gonna find where the parliment fags live up here and show them some new skids on their drive ways. Stupidest decision ever, cant believe they stopped drifting a safe and controlled environment. I dont think one car enthusiast who isnt a fag supports this descision.
