i would be trying to get some money back from the other person in question first - thats if you were completly in the clear. your insurance company should cover it and then go after him for the money.

Hang on... there's a hole in your story.

So what you're saying is... you were uninsured, and the other guy was also uninsured. You had an accident and now your both up shit creek?

If you were insured - your insurance company would pay for your damage/replacement vehicle and then sue the other driver who was at fault.

Unless you only had 3rd party property - but most 3rd party property policies also cover damage up to a (small) but limited amount when a vehicle is lost and its not your fault.

Commonwealth bank way to go. Un-secured loans, approval on the spot, funds into the account the next day. Fixed rate for 12.65% variable rate for 12.70%. Banks preferred commitment level is about 35%, so in other words if u net $100 a week ur repayment cant be more than 35bucks a week. Part time is no prob at all,u wont need a guarantor. Loan s can be taken between 1-7 years,so 7 years may be the way to go to make ur repayments lower. Hope that helps

QTCU ( Qld Teachers Credit Union) i got my 5 grand loan many years ago for bout 9% interest ( at the time i was a junior storeman netting $280 a week.

got terms over 5 years at low repayments. ( I opted for $35 a week and paid it off in bout 3 years.

I'll just make a pitch for my work... Bank Of Queensland.

also depending on how much you are looking for, it might actually be better to look into a low rate credit card (BoQ 9.99% for instance).... as most banks have a min of like 3k for a loan.. if your only looking into get a small loan to get a shitter, then it would be better for you.

A) the rate is like 3-4% lower then a Personal loan
B) once you've paid if off you still have a credit card... some people veiw this as a bad point...

but i'll say it again... this is only if your looking to get a shitter (less then 3k)

oh... and most banks like it if you have been working at the job for more then 3 months.

just give you some tips dude.

good luck.

mate, in my experience, st george are great with young people without credit histories.
I used to be with boq until they refused my $1500 credit card application, because i didnt earn enough.... 75k isnt enough for that kind of loan apparently.
BOQ hates youngsters without cred history..
personal experience anyway.

I'd have to agree with comments against Bank of Queensland - even in day to day runnings I've had bad experiences simply with money coming from a BOQ account to mine, and I have a boss and girlfriend who use them and regularly complain. But anyway.

Seeing as every single bank is getting a mention here - I've had no problems with Westpac, they have a fairly good student program with accounts, credit cards and loans.

Honestly - shop around - check out their websites or visit some branches and have a chat regarding how much you could get, conditions etc. It'll be the best way.

I hate to break it to you, but there aren't any "good" banks. They're all bastards out to make as much money out of you as possible and hit you with as many different fees and charge's they can think of. Don't blow too much on a car mate, put it towards a deposit for a house thumbsup.gif

kind of off topic but money is just too easy to get these days. i'm 18 (now) and a few years back i got a 5g loan approved through CBA over 5 years. i didn't even have any money saved and i only had a casual job. then this year when i turned 18 i applied for a credit card and i got sent 3 totalling 4.5g credit (CBA $2,500. ANZ $1000. Wizard $1000). wtf dunno.gif so you wont have a problem getting one if you show you can pay bills and have a reasonably high $$ turnover. i reckon thats why i got mine, had a phone plan since 2003 with my average bill in 2003 was like $400 a month. thank god for caps.

so anyway i found CBA reasonable for my loan, the interest rate is probably a tad higher than some credit unions (12.5% ish) but not excessively.also if your still a student CBA will wave the admin fees etc.

god i love doing this but can we all say BullShit u cant get a loan no matter who u are under the age of 18 in australia (with out your parents as the person taken the loan out)

banks are banks its simple look around dont go on the net and put applacations out as the more u do and get declined the worse your record looks (and yes even the smallest bit of info on you adds up) go to branchs and talk to the girls and guys there about them then go to more and more and more till u basicly have run out of ppl to go to (write down all possible info they give to u and take it to the next bank and see if they cant offer better deals). most banks dont budge to much but some will offer little insentives to going with them like cheaper fees, less interest, abilty to withdraw extra money u have payed if needed INSURANSE just incase you get laid off or cant work and many other little bits and peices.

i know by 2 reasons a) i have done 5 loans in 3 years 1 for a house 4 for my cars and bike b) after 30 years of my mum working for various banks and finacial places u tend to listen to what they say and most the time it helps (dont go to car loan places they charge high interest rates and fees) go to banks unions and other major places that u see day to day dealing with ppl

^^^umm i think your a fucking dick buddy, i would agree with u if i didn't currently have a loan but i do. and i'm pretty sure its in my name. you dont know the whole story so shut the fuck up and think before u decide to call bullshit when u really know jack all

sorry buddy, but its a piece of cake to get a car loan off those pricks at the bank.......didn't you see on the current affair show where this homeless guy got a home loan down in Melbourne, obviously it didn't last because he couldn't pay it off.....a bloke with NO FIXED ADDRESS got a home loan, how's that for doing a history check thumbsup.gif

I went through Capital Finance (National Bank) for my car finance at 8% interest. Secured loan, but does that really matter?
