That won't be a problem Danny - After the health crisis and the drought effects and land resumptions i don't think the labor government are long for this state.... Who ever the opposition are - they are going to have to be total assclowns to loose the next election.. |

Unsure how to feel about this, clearly alot of different opinions within this thread....... Qld Gov. needs to wake up and smell the roses, i mean my family members are cops, and they agree that the skid pan and QR are the place to do this, controlled environment. |

QUOTE(HSV @ Jul 6 2006, 10:53 AM) Sad to see this, but unfortunatly a matter of time. I recieved a letter from "Honourable Judy Spence MP, Minister for Police and Corrective Services" which had this little titbit which i found amusing in regards to facilities for people to congegrate at. So its a 4 year old study theyre relying on to blatantly bring in more revenue, without doing anything to help the growing problem they have, with "hoon" behaviour............ That letter is the funnest thing that i have read today. This is because she has COMPLETELY CONTRADICTED HER SELF!!!!! I watched the news reports at the opening of TFATF3 and Mrs Spence said and i qoute "They need to get off the street and take it to the track." BUT now she is saying that taking it to the track is worse because we are all hoons, going to these place to refine our hooning skills so that we can terrorise the general public and be on ACA and togay tonight every other week. QUOTE(Claymotion @ Jul 6 2006, 11:35 AM) Instead of arguing about how "stupid" the government is and how much of a "dumbass" Judy Spence is. How about we start up a petition thread or do up a petition to take along to get signed on cruise nights to send in to the Hon Judy Spence MP. *** Save QLD Drift Cruise *** could be an option to get a petition signed?????? Then attach a well written letter explaining why we think it would be feasable to put in place more "off the street motor-vehicle usage areas" and how we know as car enthusiasts that it would bring people off hte stret to do what they do in a controlled environment. Of course it will not bring all of the car enthusiast as therre will always be a few uninteligent people who will prefer to "fang one out" on the street but a lot of the car enthusiast will take to this idea. </2 cents> I have a better idea lets get a signed petition together and organise a cruise to personally give it to Mrs Judy Spencer as she lives down the road from me!!!! now that would be cool. This will only work in a fantasy land as petitions and cruise will not get any where with regards to politicians and changing there minds. |

Apparently there was a drift school setup there, with their own cars. This is what the government is banning. As far as I am aware, most of the "drift" sessions that have been there in the past have been done specifically as driver training events, hense were able to get away with it for so long. |

HA, clearly owns a car that cant drift ![]() personally i disagree, but i get the feeling that ur talking about people doing it on the streets, and if that be the case then yes they are a menace to society. track or not at all IMO. You could see this coming for a while - I used to organise skidpan days at Mt Cotton for the car club(s) I'm in - but last year they brought in the DB testing for modified cars...which brought an end to our driver training days. |

well ppl have said that petitions dont work but the car enthusiast community on a whole is pretty damn big and constantly growing but y not try gettin a petition goin and get it out over all the other forums clubs in qld and try and do something venting in here and sayin how stupid the gov is isnt gonna help or fix the situation. somewhere along the line we need to find away to make the community heard |

QUOTE I note you have suggested providing more off-road driving facilities for car enthusiasts to provide a venue where motoring can be enjoyed without the constraint of the anti-hooning legislation. Unfortunately however, the road safety benefit of providing venues for people who wish to race may not be supported by research. A study undertaken by Kloeden, McLean and Glonek (2002) from the Centre for Automotive Safety Research at the University of Adelaide found that racing in a controlled environment does not reduce the incidence of speeding on a public road. Therefore, while facilities such as those which you suggested may attract drivers currently illegally racing on public streets, it is unlikely to reduce the incidence of "hooning" behaviour on public roads and may not result in improved road safety benefits. The Queensland Government is continually monitoring new developments in road safety and will review and consider any research into providing off-road racing facilities. So its a 4 year old study theyre relying on to blatantly bring in more revenue, without doing anything to help the growing problem they have, with "hoon" behaviour............ Sorry, just goin back to what HSV said earlier. Of course the number of hooning related incidents wont drop. The fuckwits doing it couldn't give a stuff where they do it. And their not likely to want to pay $50+ when they can do it on the street. By giving us somewhere to congregate and cut loose on a race track it takes the honest to god car enthusiasts out of the picture when it comes to hooning. That mean that the real hoons will actually get caught and not some innocent by stander. Maybe they need to study the Car Scene as a whole and not interview the very few hoons that get arrested. |
