personally id go with the holden 5litre injected id imagine the swap wouldnt be much more pricey plus there is alot more available for the engine for cheaper. i got an 85 4runner and im running a worked 253 very simple conversion downside to the carb engine is stalling on certain angles but i also have gas so it makes up for the carby lacking offroad |

A holley? They tend to stall easily on hills. Rochesters tend to be better. I had a worked 253 in an 83 hilux many years ago, great fun |

I had a worked 253 in an 83 hilux many years ago, great fun yeah running the 600 holley ive herd that the rochester carbs are alot better than a holley for offroad use so ill be looking to put one on and see how she goes aftet that if i was to change the engine id definately go to a desiel instead but the V8 does its job quiet nicely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci5xsoEeKbI |

dont know about the aurion motors but the only differences in price between the v6 and the v8 is only the cost of the motors, everything else will be pretty much the same as its the same amount of work and mounting kits and shit. i was going to go the v6 option and thought fuck it for and extra 800 it was worht the v8 |

If u plan on using it for ofroad then 2j is not the best choice holden 5l would be best option less to it than the 4l less to go wrong on a track in middle of forest. One thing to remember going for any of these engines there is going to be more strain on drive line so if u have a heavy right foot u probably do a diff at some stage. |

Unless u can do a lot of the work ursrlf its going to be fairly expensive maybe sell and buy a turbo cruiser or something I ran a Dyna truck gear box, custom tail shaft, and Landcruiser rear diff, Hilux Surf LSD centre up front (same 4.1:1 as Landcruiser) behind my worked 253, worked great for many years. |

FYI - you could pick up a complete V8 Soarer for around $3k and still be able to sell a lot of the parts off once you remove the engine, gearbox, loom and ecu. |

In fact for memory I did see a running V8 Soarer for sale on here for $1500 for memory So those halfcut costs can be reduced by knowing where to look Those half cut prices are a joke. Recently a Crown Half-cut sold for $1000. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130612416194?ss...984.m1423.l2649 |

geeeez and i thought $3200 just to replace the engine with the 3VZ-E was pricey.... has anyone put a 3.8 ecotec in? i was also looking at the newer aurion motors? Has anyone put anything like that in, or are there too many computer issued? I'm looking at putting it in a 92 4runner. Is that price drive in drive out ? |

I was bit by the Lexus V8 bug a number of years ago and truly enjoy them. Amazing engineering, and the music they make above 6000 RPM is something else. You can get them for a song (less than $500) on eBay, but they're very costly to hotrod 'cause you can't just go to Summit or Jegs for go-fast parts. Most stuff has to be fabricated, or at least adapted. It's not extraordinary to hear of someone buying the basic motor for $500, then tearing it down and putting another $10K or $15K into it. |
