With all the G20 rubbish going on in Brisbane, how's this for an indication of what an armoured vehicle is capable of?!

Thanks alpharx7, worthy of it's own topic!

You don't need a gun,just a truck,of the commercial variety

QUOTE
The bomb-proof limousines hired for the G20 summit can withstand firepower from an AK47 assault rifle and are fitted with nail-proof tyres.

But it seems they cannot withstand the force of a standard commercial truck.
One of the S600 Guard limousines provided by German car maker Mercedes-Benz for the world leaders' summit in Brisbane has been rendered "out of action" after being rear-ended by a truck.

Fairfax Media understands the limousine was hit by a commercial truck on Wednesday afternoon.

"There were two people involved in the incident and one was taken to hospital as a precaution," G20 organisers said in a statement.
No visiting dignitary or member of an international G20 delegation was in the limousine at the time.

"The Australian government can confirm that no members of a G20 delegation were involved. Those involved were part of the G20 workforce," the statement says.

The crash was not the fault of the limousine driver, according to the statement.

"G20 drivers are extensively trained and highly experienced. This incident was not the fault of the G20 driver," it said.

"As is standard procedure, the Queensland Police Service is investigating this minor traffic incident."

G20 organisers would not confirm where in Brisbane the crash occurred, but said the incident was "minor".

The federal government ordered a $16 million fleet of armoured limousines for the meeting of foreign heads of state, finance ministers and other dignitaries.

Rather than purchasing the vehicles outright, at a cost of about $1 million each, the federal government opted to rent the fleet of S600 Guards at a cost of $1.8 million to taxpayers.

The limousines, powered by V12 engines, weigh more than four tonnes due to the added armour and thickened glass.

Barack Obama's Secret Service wanted roundabout demolished for G20 motorcade
US officials requested that a roundabout outside the University of Queensland be demolished so President Barack Obama's G20 motorcade would not need to slow down, according to reports.

The Australian reported on Thursday that the Secret Service request was turned down by Queensland authorities.
