why do you leave it there.. even over night?

Never had a problem there and i've had my soarer there parked for literally 7 months. number plate still intact. no key marks, no stolen number plates, no smashed glass.

Security regularly patrols the area at night to early morning, police patrol around that in marked cars too during those times.
Undercover....Used to park near Lotos as it's easier for the cleaners/security to see if something happens.
It hailed a lot this weekend so it was safer. I park my car outside.
Washed it Friday only to have it rain. But it rained all week and is now (car is now home)
Plus i was using the company car as i do mobile rwc and had a lot to do actually so it wasn`t getting used. and the company car was at lotos.

yeah it just blends in with the rest of the cars there.
plus centre management never had an issue there before.
we were allocated 20 car parks back in the days when we used to park there.

one of the fillers there who has the white 86 had his window smashed
a few months ago, he was paranoid to bring it back. he started parking
it at one of the loading docks after 9pm. but now he's leaving it back in the carpark.

Prisoners is a really good movie but you have to watch it quite closely, it can be a little bit confusing. I ended up having a 30 minute discussion about it afterwards where we all had a different idea of what certain things meant. Will have to check out getaway.

Question for you blokes,I've just bought a Sony idiot box,and a Sony sound bar system, the old Plasma was analogue,so I used a set top box with it.Now that it's gone I have a bit of shelf space freed up,as the sound bar is located on the stand, but at the back. This TV is 3D compatible,so I was half thinking about getting a Blu-ray player. At the moment,we only have DVD's but Google tells me they will play DVD's as well as Blu-ray discs.Dick Smith have a Sony Blu-ray player for $98,would this be okay,or is 'you get what you pay for'?I was only thinking Sony, for the compatibility aspect (number of remotes),but the cheap price frightens me.Although I paid $5,000 for the plasma ten years ago (reduced from $7,000)and this last one (47'Sony Bravia)cost me $1900,with the sound system, optical connections and a 5 year replacement warranty,so maybe things are getting cheaper.Any advice appreciated thumbsup.gif

Tv prices have crashed hugely.
All TVs are 3d compatible these days really,
but who cares?
3d is stupid.

You DO want a BD player, but for the visual quality, not the 3d gimmickry.

Yes,
better to stick with a sony if you don't have a universal remote as they do that neat multiple devices on one remote and linked on/off business.

I bought a Sony bluray player for $60,it was on a closing down sale, price was too good not to so I bought another. Has usb and pretty much plays most video formats

Pretty much this Wolfie.I'm not a big TV watcher at the best of times, but when I update something,I like to upgrade as well

This is just a Dick Smith special item, and my son just SMSed that Hardly Normal have a Sony player for $149 that plays computer formats as well.I have had a few Sony products before and been happy with them, just a bit worried $98 might be a basic model

Doc
Post #10662

The 2 I bought were originally around the $170 mark, for just playing the occasion bluray now and then it does the job that a $500 player would, I don't use it much as I use the wdtv player to watch all my movies.

Thanks Doc,I read a couple of reviews on both models and as I thought the cheaper one was pretty basic, the only con I could find on the other was it wasn't WIFi compatible (not my cup of tea) so I might grab the $149 jobbie, because at that price if it fcuks up I would just bin it

I personally can't justify buying a dvd player. it's a waste of money in my opinion, on account that I can get any movie or television show that I want, then play it through an Seagate external drive / wdtv box set up. I pay for internet, there's my movies / shows source. thumbsup.gif

You're dealing with old farts here though, and I'm having enough dramas with the Mrs operating the equpment in the Family Room,I'm trying to upgrade, but at the same time keep it user friendly, because she watches this one when she cooks meals, and I hate burned food rolleyes.gif

turn the tv on, wdtv box turns on, spins up the hard drives - takes a minute or two, hey presto access to 30 different television series, 500 movies etc, depending on how many/big your hard drive is.

no disc's required.

cost you $300 to set it up, never pay for a movie etc again.

Also, you don't care about IP, and feel that people shouldn't be compensated for giving you a product you enjoy.
Sorry, I have morals when it comes to content ownership-likely from having a film maker in the family.

I'm happy to let you compensate people for their IP wolfman. you have plenty of money, go right ahead, compensate away. mamoru.gif

It's just plain immoral, there's really no two ways about it.
No, it's not stealing... There is no deprivation of a physical product from another person, but it's still immoral. If you can't afford to pay what a content creator thinks that their product is worth, you are free to not partake of it. You don't just take it anyway. That's how the free market works.

Yes. I do the wrong thing most of the time, but sometimes, when it suits me, I do the right thing. Guess that means I am not a bad person.
For the record, that's just an analogy, im not saying you are a bad person.

the answer to this is a western societal problem, where we are taught to value materialistic possessions.
i'm happy to compensate the 'owner' for their IP, but given the differences in wages/salary I'd argue that those who earn more should pay more, whilst those that earn less should pay less. In this way both people can participate in society equally.

since this type of system doesn't exist in western society, I will do what I need to so as to enable I can participate in western society in ways that I have been taught to value.

I value physical products, but also value the rights of artists to decide what their good or service is worth.
