Its got a very good reputation and has been used on plenty of high end metal around Brisbane. Defiantly worth a look.

http://www.optimumcarcare.com.au/product/1...at_dealers.html looks to be a dealer only product, they need their glass product on the windows at skypoint at Q1.
Any of these treatments are brilliant if applied well, this just seems to be the next evolotion, I have used synthetic wax before, unreal, car with road grime, just water blast off and dry with leaf blower, 10 min job to look immaculate.

Solarstyle and detail evolution i have personally used, both did a fantastic job.

Skipping a buch of posts which I will read later.. To weigh in on 86 build quality. I don't think it's terrible, but a lot of it reminds me of Mitsubishi's which just all clip together and rattle. Mine will sometimes and it shits me. I either forget that it does or it's stopped doing it and no matter which way that goes.. It has more rattles than the 14 year old Alfa 156 I sold to buy it. A car which journos pissed and moaned about build quality in (perhaps not enough advertising $$ from AR to keep their comments good)

The 86 is just a revival car to make people think Toyota still make fun cars to drive. The 86 at the end of the day is a prettied up economy car.

Well it is a fun car to drive, and I was sick of having to buy old cars in order to have a fun car so it's great for me. I call it an economy sports car all the time. Fun per litre per 100km it can't be beaten lol. Real economy cars are just boring. Drove a new Corolla as a courtesy car, boring, but gets the job done of arriving at your destination I suppose. Other than that its a typical 2010's mile long dashboard high driving position odd to judge the front of new boring car. And in the basic models you get this wretched horrible plastic steering wheel to remind you that you're poor.

Also, the interior is significantly worse than a new Corolla, actually .

The interior is pretty old fashioned in the 86, it's got a whole 1990's vibe to it and why they didn't match the doors to the dashboard properly is a total mystery to me.

Vk134 comparing it to the Corolla, well of course the aircon controls and vents and stuff will be the same, it's the nature of the beast that is parts bin cars. "OMG spent $200k on an Audi R8.. Oh shit the steering wheel is the same as a $75k TT... fcuk! Better upgrade it before someone thinks less of me"

Yep its got rattles and my audi s4 interior is way better. I just dont care though. Keep her at 5k or above on a mountain run is blisss. The best steering chassis under 100k. The best feedback. It smashes my 130k audi for driving fun. Its not perfect. If i was trying to impress someone. Audi all the way. For myself. 86 any day of the week

I agree, I will be holding on to my car for as long as possible, not giving any fcuks about depreciation as per usual. The only thing that will make me sell it is if servicing costs start to blow out but I can't see that happening too much. Try say that about a VW or Renault LOL, the service costs are blown out from the get go in those and then shit will inevitably start to break on them along with your patience for the car

Well, change the second half to "fcuk! Better upgrade because I want it to be nicer because I like my cars to be a nice place to be" and I would agree with that statement I suppose. Who the hell is going to see the interior of the car except me anyway?
Incidentally, I've done a SHITELOAD more than just the steering wheel, and I'm about to hit up the seats and brakes next-which will cost me about as much as an 86! lol

Glad to see that we see eye to eye on the 86 interior Dale.

S4 just looks a tad tame to me still. I don't really like any of the current Audi S range actually-don't really see the point of them. Except to create new niches to further gouge the consumer of course-as BMW have recently discovered they can do with their 1/2 M range. So glad that instead of selling out and following suit with 1/2 AMG cars, Merc has decided to just make cheaper proper AMGs.
Personally I think this hyper-segmentation will have to come to an end, and we will just have the normal range, and then M/RS/AMGs.

As good as modern diesels are becoming, i just can't being myself to get one. The torque is nice for traffic and all but they still sound pretty terrible compared to petrol's (at least the ones worth buying anyway) and in the same price bracket will be far slower than their petrol counterparts.

wolfman101
Post #124

So you've gained a full 200 hp over stock? Assuming that as most suspect, the car makes around 30hp more than spec? Have you run it in the 1/4?

2fifty
Post #125

its different when fuel efficiency is the most important equation. I have been contemplating on a new car for the past 4 months, i would love to buy a c63 but i need to average 8-9 litres max. i current own a diesel x3 and a diesel ml320 and i love the torque, the amount of times i pull away from v8s at the lights or when merging surprises me. you get used to it, its not that bad.

s13viper
Post #126

Actually its more like 150kw over stock as they are rated to about 250kw and no, no 1/4's. I rarely launch it hard as at that power level, even with 4wd i risk breaking things. Roll on performance though is simply brutal as you would expect with 335kw at all 4's and 700+nm.

The internals are still stock, but the supercharger and most ancillaries have been changed. From the outside the only real visual changes are exhuast and a front mount instead of the stock Water to air units.

If you haven't heard of the car, then good. Its exactly how i want it to stay smile.gif

This is the thing I love about the Audi's ever since the first time I clapped eyes on an RS4 wagon.

Pure elegant sleepers, that don't suffer from the "the look at me" syndrome most other sports cars suffer.

summed up the 86 quite well.

The difference is-only ONE of your understated looking cars goes better than it looks! tongue.gif

s13viper
Post #133

True, no-one buys a 86 to impress anyone with its speed though, and if they do, they are stupid lol

Actually i think i like it, because compared to the audi, it really does feel like im doing things at walking pace, which makes having a blast in it very very easy.

As much as i hate to admit it, Id have a much harder time recommending a 86 as someones only car. Its still great but pretty useless at carrying things and yes its slow. If its your only car, those things might become annoying after a while no matter how much fun it is on the twisties. Cheap to run though

wolfman101
Post #134

I hear that. I've had cars that need to have their balls wrung out to go anywhere-does lend them character.

dale.collins
Post #135

At least they go somewhere when you do, it's not like flogging the ring out of a Yaris and being neck and neck with a bog stock Commodore who's taking off on 5% throttle.

I was thinking about the economy car comment made a little while ago, and thought.. but hang on, a Golf GTI has what like 155kw, and 1300 odd kg, same power to weight, but somehow it can or should be more respected because why, it's in a hatchback and not a "look at me car"? If they made it in a sports car people would probably jerk off as much as people did with the 86.. haters gonna hate IMO. Economy car with 12.5:1 compression ratio petrol engine with 100hp per litre...unheard of. Economy it may be, amongst hefty sports car competition where the dollars are big and the rest of the numbers are big. Here's a low number.. $32.50. The cost for me to run my 86 last week. One tank lasting me two weeks.

I found my good comments to bad comments ratio in the 86 is something like 20:1 in real life, the only one bad one coming from some thrower driving like a 2004 bog stock Lancer, I think a yellow one at that

Back on topic I can't wait till I see a 4C on the streets

What gen X3? If an old one, just consider upgrading to the new one. They are a completely new car, quite nice, and more efficient than ever.

Yeah Dale-I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a car. If they bring enough of them in, I really do think it will change everything under 100k. I may look at one as a daily in 2015...hopefully they will have a GTA version by then!

Not too forget the "I'm just a normal car TTRS"

As far as understated performance coupes go, I actually think that the SLK and SL AMG lines are about as sleeperish as you get, while still going like the clappers.

Hes not even making a comparison, hes responding to the other guys comment about their styling, chill.
