hi guys,

i own a 2005 ford BA Falcon (automatic)

i am having some trouble, when i put my foot down my car shudders and finds it hard to take off quickly from a standing start or when changing speed zone quickly eg. going from 80 to 100

also when parked you can feel a slight shudder

has anyone had these problems or know how to fix this??

cheers

First of all, your car has a 6cyl engine. NOT a 4cyl.

secondly, when was the last time it got any love? Service, plugs, fuel and air filters etc etc.

yeah sounds like a dead coil or possibly your intake manifold gasket is leaking.. get some carby cleaner and spray it along the manifold where it bolts to the head, if no change id say its a dead coil! very common prob with ba's etc

the car isnt an XR6 or XR8 so wouldnt it be a 4 cyl??

and thanks for that cookie i had a feeling it might be the coils but i will check the intake gasket

cheers

No your car is a 6 cylinder. All Falcons, no matter what model, come with an inline 6 cylinder as a base motor. No smaller.

Sounds like it has a miss. As mentioned check coil packs and spark plugs first.

No offence but if you can't tell how many cylinders it has this leads me to believe you don't have the basic aptitude to check anything we would suggest.....just take it to a mechanic.

Have you called dept trans yet to have a go at them for charging you 6cyl rego fees on your 4 banger...?
Dude your car is a 6cyl.
I would be having it serviced by a mechanic and have the plugs and coil packs checked.
When was it last serviced? Should be doing it pretty well once a year or every 10,000kms. Book it in and mention the problem you are having, and they will do the service and call you to let you know what theyve found regarding your issue.

FYI next month falcon will be released with a 2 litre four cylinder......JS
