Honestly having a fast car is fun and all, I have a vs ute has abit of power and I'm lucky to even still be driving ive had alot of near misses not even trying to do skids and shit. But having a fast car so soon is to scary and unsafe. I got my p's not to long ago and having a fast car so early isn't good cause you are still learning. You'll learn I have sorta smile.gif

i jumped into a 327 vl when i got my license and learnt very quick what my limits where, after a few months you learn to push them about moer , just drive normally and you will be right

dont even want to push my limits, have had only drive to 70% of capacity and keep the 30% until something goes wrong screwed into my head since i was about 8 from my dad, defiantly a good thing. smile.gif

Your parents are a lot smarter then most with there restrictions. Basically she is giving you the chance to get a good reliable car that won't cost a fortune in maintenance etc right off the bat, with the trade off being that it will obviously small, and fwd.

OR you can go with your dad and get an old POS VL or VN, (lol if u think you will power slide) that will most likely cost a lot for inevitable repairs, fuel etc.

Choice is yours, you are not going to find a car with your retarded criteria's due to how unrealistic they are.

Both good choices, R31 cheaper for parts and cheaper to buy. JZA70 supra better looking, more stylish interior and duh TOYOTA

Sweet jesus! If an r31 doesn't attract any cop attention, I'll let khubner do my wiring! oopsie.gif

Name dropping that your dad is a mechanic lol.

The old rb30 can take a great deal of punishment, plus aftermarket parts are everywhere.

Get an old corolla or pulsar or 323? or similar, learn how to drive first! small fwd cars are great to learn in and cost bugger all to run mate, my first car was a corolla, infact it still is lol has noisy cv's cracked windscreen leaking exhaust, still starts first time everytime and gets me to uni smile.gif p platers and fast cars arent a good mix lol if you spend 18000 on a car and wrap it around a pole how wuld you feel? sad? yeah probs lol amd wuld you be able to oay the access for the insurance? wat about regular services? theres alot more to think about when buyimg a car man smile.gif its a big responsibility becos when youre on the road your responsibke for other ppls lives aswell, get somethings you can "handle" my advice is to oend that 18000 on uni fees tongue.gif ut thats entirely my pov and i dnt expect any1 to think similar smile.gif

well i am getting my P's soon so a v8 or any type of supercharger is not permitted unsure.gif it also has to be under 200kw, if the car is less then a year mum can put $16,000 towards it and i so far have $1,500, i would prefer it if it wasn't a FWD and i want low insurance and rego costs, but also want something that will hang the back out and has a bit of go in it, any suggestions?

dad swung a tray back ute past my mind, it sounds good but want more of a choice, im not into lowering or modifying ute's.

Thank you for any help!! tongue.gif

QUOTE (Rancher @ Apr 5 2011, 08:55 PM) *
LOL.
You want a car thats less then a year old,
Not a V8, turbo, S/C,
Not FWD,
Cheap to Rego,
Cheap to insure,
Enough power to 'hang the back out'
Obviously cheap to run, cause lets face it. If you have $1,500 to put towards it, mum is basically buying it for you. Which means you cant afford anything.

Yeah, nah mate. There isn't anything. Your expectations are waay too high. You're not going to find a RWD with plenty of HP thats less then a year old, for $18,500.

16000 + 1500 = 18500?? laugh.gif

vy sv6 6 speed manual 11 grand dont hectic it up though

VY 6cyl commos didn't come with a 6 speed and 11k is quite pricey for a 6 cyl VY

You might as well just take the more expensive one unless your mum expects you to keep it for the rest of your life or something.

Hey, you might be able to get a base model Impreza. They're not FWD oopsie.gif Better than a beater worth 1/4 the value just because you might be able to thrash and break it while going around in circles smoking up one tyre.

I've read no responses to this thread, only the original post and have this to say.

Your first car will likely end up FUCKED! Buy something MASSIVELY cheap and destroy it. Then when you get some automotive experience and respect, buy something you'll take care of.

You will do burnouts. You will skid around corners and roundabouts, you will hit something. You will ding something. You will get dinged by others. Pay as little as possible, fuck the shit out of it, then get something decent.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.... im on my red p's and i have a D22 navara diesel 4wd tray back ute for driving around and camping/off roading with the boys ect. handy as hell too. however if i feel like 'hanging it out a bit at not every corner' (facepalm) i have a mini spooled R31 which does it stupidly well for a $1500 car. Oh and to the VL comments.. ewww R31 = better chassis, less weight, factory manuals run stock 3.7 gears so they go rather well fr a piece of shit.

by the sounds of it though, buy a fwd hatchback, your'e a fucking idiot.

This. You can't drive for a year. I fucking hate hypothetical threads like this. You'll end up in a small shitty car, so don't think otherwise.

Get a yaris or something, so you DON'T die.
Right now you're talking about getting a car with prehistoric safety features and street sliding it? For a fresh driver that's just simple 1+1=coffin.

Get a new car.
Something reliable, something with air con, power stearing, central locking, something your girlfriend/boyfriend will be seen in, something with a decent safety rating, air bags...

But you know P platers these days, they need a car to impress their boyfriends with, then proceed to wrap the said car around a light pole.

It's true. OP - Get something roomy, so you can have gay anal in your car while it's parked in the garage, since you can't drive it.

"Hey guys, I'll have about $200,000 for a car in 20 years time. Should buy a used Ferrari or Lamborghini? Thanks heaps!"

I don't see how this is even a questionable option. You've got a potential 16 - 18k, why the fuck would you even think about getting a 4k heap when you could pickup a clean, modern FWD, drive it for a few years and then sell it for a decent amount and put that money toward what you really want after you know how to drive.

Alternatively.. you can buy an R31, think your a hero when you have your mates in the back shotgunning cranberry UDLs and write it off reenacting DK on the carpark downramp at your local Westfields.

I know what it's like to be 16 and wanting a hero car, fuck when i was 17 i went around setting fire to the potplants at my house when i realised i couldn't have a R33 for my first car. I bought a 2001 Holden Astra, wasted $500 putting a horrid cannon and molesting the standard airbox to put on a podfilter to gain absolutely fuck all, then sold it two years later when i knew how to handle a car and bought my R33. Through all my younger years of driving (i'm 24 now) in the R33, 350Z, GSXR 750 / 1000 and more recently an R34 and a BMW i never had or been a cause / contributing factor to a single accident.

If i had of had the R33 right off the bat i know i would have been fucked, plain and simple. You'd like to think you won't get spurred on by the S13 doseing beside you on the M1 but you will, and you will eventually get that lovely adrenalin boost and decide to assert your dominance on the street and race the dickhead beside you for absolutely no reason, to prove nothing and to ultimately lose your license or hurt someone.

Take advantage of a good situation with your mum and get a relatively zippy FWD, do a few mods to it to keep yourself happy and become confident on the road. That way when you're a bit older and more mature you can make an informed decision to buy the next car for 'hanging the arse out' and hopefully will have gained enough experience / wisdom not to make the same mistakes you would have at 16. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but from how you've come accross with what you want the car for you definitely fit the stereotype i associate you with.

Just sayin'

Get something small. Trust me, I have a big car and am regretting it every time i'm filling up fuel. I must say it is a comfortable car.
