As explained above i wanna take the turbo off my factory turboed r33 to make it P plate legal. How would i go about doing this and what parts will i need.cheers |

You would need a bomb and to stop using the internet if you are unable to use the search function or even google or even have some common sense to know that it's stupid, a waste of money. Would've also been alot cheaper to buy an already N/A R33 than wasting your money buying a turbo'd one to later realise it's a) expensive b) pointless and c) complete waste of money. |

If the OP was smart, getting the turbo version first would make sense. -Massive brakes -LSD -Very strong gearbox But chances are the OP didn't think of this... how is that smart? so he has to go and throw a non turbo motor in? if he thinks he can just take the turbo off then its pretty obvious he wouldnt be able to do an engine swap himself so there goes 5k to make the car shitter. I dunno about you but i wouldnt be interested in spending money to intentionally ruin my car. even if it was temporary. he would still have to swap the motor to drive it legally and modifications requiring DOT approval are not allowed on P plate vehicles. the smart thing would be to deal with the fact that you cant really have a quick car on your P's and buy a cheap POS especially considering it appears to be a first car. most first cars are not looked after correctly and end up bashing gutters etc. I think everyone should learn to drive an old POS to its limit before jumping in a real car. |

1. sell the r33 to someone whos not a fucking idiot P plater. 2. buy yourself a corolla or whatnot for 2k 3. drive that POS into the ground because thats all your going to do to the r33 anyway, destroy a perfectly good car. 4. when you have got some real driving experience and have matured from the 18yr old "im fulli sik" driving mentality then buy yourself a better car. thought I was awesome back then just full of awesomness now |

I'm willing to bet that even if some cops look in the engine bay they won't know what they're looking at and won't be able to tell if the turbo's there or not. Hope that makes sense. |

Why the hostility twin cam? I've noticed that you don't like when a more realistic perspective is offered in response to your comments do you? Removing the turbo from the 25DET motor is not ever going to be a "smart" move. The results would be considerably less then desirable. I don't know why anyone would consider this option. I said it already but why would you spend money pulling the motor and replacing it? I guarantee if he needs a workshop to swap the motors the sale of the 25DET minus box is never going to cover it. Again he's left spending money to make the car worse. Because I can probably guarantee that if they check the car on their database and see that the indentification states it's a turbo-charged car they will just book him straight away. I still think that he'll be stung even if he chooses to remove the turbo. If there is no mod plate (which is illegal on a P plate car anyway) or documentation of any kind to prove that it has been removed then the cops are still going to issue him with a fine or whatever it is you get. Maybe not so much the DOT because those guys might actually have an idea about what they're looking at but either way I believe it's a pretty dumb idea. |

It's like buying a 50" TV and then when you get it home you cut it down to 32" because it doesn't fit in your cabinet. Even though you knew this before you bought it. Same same. um.... what i would do... pop the bonnet... get the cop standing next to the car pointing to the exhaust manifold where the turbo normally is and take a photo... then you will always be able to get out of it.... i seriously doubt cops are that dumb... sure you might get a few... but if they cant see a turbo and just a exhaust pipe... im pretty sure they wont fine you.... but seriously... it will be the slowest car ever because of the compression and stuff... best to just buy non turbo gear and do a straight swap... will probably take less time aswell just pulling out the whole engine and wiring harness and chucking the non turbo harness and engine in.... its alot less bolts to undo... |
