good stuff. should improve the times smile.gif

I really need to do something about my diff one day too. But I'm gearing up for a Simpson Desert & Red Center 4WD trip in August, so no more motorsport for me for a few months.

I think quite a few of us need to address diff issues. My S12 is not the nicest car to drive in the wet or over undulations like under the bridge at Lakeside thanks to the welded centre. But its sure exciting when it does step out.

great success. new diff rocks :]

and they ran us on clubman for the first two sessions which is a much better layout imo - proper left handers and kerbs where you can really wring its neck VS sprint = lame drainage dips and dirt instead of kerbs

Nice to see 57ing and Sinnar out !

Rolled the car off the trailer , drove to pump up the tires and the CV joint shattered sad.gif
Had a new drive shaft in by 2nd session to find a gearbox bolt missing . so back on the trailer she went.

What the hell is wrong with these Excel series complete morons ? Do they not understand it is a sprint !
The majority of them spent every session driving around in packs of 4-5 cars which in turn slows up the whole
group..

First off post up your vehicle and your lap times verses the average Excel times. Seems to me that when i am in a slow excel i wave people past, when i am not in the excel they wave me past. Its QR policy not to pass through corners but if you have a few more horses and you can execute a pass its acceptable. Where is the problem.

Ah Ralph, Hate_ owns the Blue Starlet GT on the first page, he has run around there in the 60 second region.

My car is the one on the first page of this thread thumbsup.gif

I'm sure there is a few smarter excel drivers , and I wasn't bagging out the car, I'm trying
to help these guys improve their times wink.gif there's no problem.

But I see these guys spend all 5 laps bunched together slowing each other down the entire time.
Where if they did what you're supposed to do on a sprint day. Spread yourselves out around the track
give 3-4 seconds between each car so you can have a clean lap with no traffic..

Instead you seem them 2-3cars side by side down the main straight rolleyes.gif

That was Ralph, not phil...

I had a ball yesterday, didn't see the excel bys sticking together, i think there was only 2 excels in my group (group 2)

Now riddle me this, yes we are in excels... but we all know u can pass us down the straight, but come to a corner and mid lap i was in hysterics laughing at how people then hold us up... i colud list a number of cars in my group who could go fast in a straight but they brake 10x to early and corner like my nanna...

but... due to the excel having no big hp and ability to hammer then in straights we just get hung up by them in every corner... ... and let me assure you, if your fast on the straight bu an excel is all over you on turn1 and 2... you need to re-eveluate a few things... I

Wow, that starlet is ony doing around the minute? thought it was quicker...

Had a ball in the hyundai, they are so understated, and so much fun...

Will have to dust of the s14 soon, see if the wanted low 58, high 57 are in order...

Try and stay clear of them, that is all you can do, They are going out there having a little bit of fun. I understand the issues though.

Thanks Robby, corrected myself. There are too many of you Mounfield's for me to remember tongue.gif. I wasn't out there to really pass judgement. I have seen what Hate_ is talking about occur out at lakeside a few times.

However I do agree with you some of the guys struggle with anything outside of a straight line. Having said that it is a sprint. I personally think everyone needs to drive a little smarter.

It looks much quicker than it is laugh.gif
It's only been out back at QR once since the engine conversion sad.gif Yesterday would have been 2nd

In group 3 some of the excels were holding their own down the straight as well as the corners !

But that's not what I'm trying to point out. If you spread yourselves out , you don't need
to worry about cars holding you up ! . Yesterday was a packed day with around 100 cars
but there is plenty of track out there to spread you're selves around.
If you're getting held up by the car in front of you just off the gas and wait for a bigger gap dunno.gif

You're right no excels in Group 1 yesterday and i am assuming by that you mean Group 1 DRIVERS ARE GOD, but that does not mean a lot given the amount of so called 'WEAPONS" that were in Group 4 with me lol. Evo/STI/FPV/SS the odd Turbo Nissan etc etc. At the end of the day, the excel guys do want to pull good times but its a new grouping most are following each other to learn set up and car attitude rather than following correct lines. A lot can be learned from the car in front. At 55 years of age i do however thank you for passing on your wealth of experience.

You can drop a few seconds on tracks just learning the secrets and tips from more experienced drivers
without spending a cent on the car smile.gif

I like the tactic for the Federal tyres Excel. Go around the last corner, keep it in 2nd and plant it and make a fuckload of smoke so no-one else can see (Y)

Robby
Post #273

haha smile.gif we found it breathes hard thru that section, but no where else, keeps oil int he head... time for a catch can...

in saying that, on the laps where it pumps oil that re circ's thru the throttle body and bogs down to a point where it feels like its stopped. it ran 1.10... not bad for a stock 235,000km old hyundai

Beannie
Post #274

in my excel, i was sticking to 3rd gear around the last corner...

robby, mine's got 270,000km lol smile.gif

The moron comment was way out of line, and frankly p%sses me off. I was in an excel in group 2 and was held up just as much as you would have been.
Faster car up the straight and then hold you up around the rest of the track and don't want to let a Excel past.
Get over it, it happens to all of us just deal with it. This is part of the game finding a clean lap all comes down to experience.
The excel's were great around QR yesterday some decent times for what they are.

Its ok Paul he got it off his chest and now probably regrets his comments. Lets start a thread on slow drivers in high performance cars holding up excels. You know the guys that top 220 + on the straight shit them selves on exit of turn 1 and finish up with a fleet of excels on their arse going into the dipper.

certainly was great weather out there yesterday, i didnt mind the 2 circuits 2nd run on the clubman was my best, sprint track was a write off couldnt get a quick lap in but defently is a great track and had heaps of fun, i think over taking on the inside whilst existing a corner when you have to cross back over to set up for the next isn't to smart (left hand corner out of the dipper sprint track) there are some quick cars out there but surely stick to the racing lines then smash it past me on the inside to the next corner just makes me wanna rev harder and try to keep with you through the corners excels where very quick out there had a few little battles with them which was great

cheers

I don't get held up at all by excels ? You're not in my league wink.gif
I didn't make that post as a driver I made it from a viewers perspective as I was watching all day.

"Finding a clean lap all comes down to experience" ? I'm starting to think you might actually be a moron..
How hard is it to slow down from the group you are stuck in and give yourself a few seconds between a car ?

There is usually around 10-15 cars on the track and there is at least 60 seconds of track. That's 4-5 seconds between each car..approx
There is no need to drive around nose to tail the whole 5 laps.

There are bad/inexperienced drivers driving high preformance cars , slow cars, it's nothing to do with the Car. I'm just saying from watching the groups that I did. It seemed like the excels where the ones driving in packs ? dunno.gif

You guys don't personally bother me cause your never in my group.
