So, whats this I've just heard you've run a FLAT 60 Paul? Is it true? Awesome effort if so biggrin.gif

Great improvement with the new cam too wink.gif

Would it be fair or reasonable to say your Falcon is virtually Saloon Car spec now? Or do you still have a way to go? Awesome bang for buck buddy, just awesome!

Thanks mate 60.95 on the weekend, car is going really good but is far from saloon car specs.
Cam and springs and a clean up of the head is all we did, ran a 61.61 on the stock engine.
59's dare to dream.
Cheers Paul
PS. Will have my excel out on Sunday as well as my falcon.

nah, 58s on tyres that cost under $1400 is the goal mate!
anyone can go fast on those big $$$ Dunlops

Marlin
Post #121

Blah blah blah. My Dunlops cost $1760, so I'm just out of your range huh tongue.gif

LOL wait til I get a fresh set of A050's on it! And more than 200kw! LOL

How about, 57's on $500 worth of slicks? Would I be cool again then?

its a bloody arms race... I think we should all go back to KU36. 60.79

Marlin
Post #123

You started it.

HRD-GTR
Post #124

lol what's that got to do with anything?

if ya wanna be cool, put your air con back in and drive it to the track - trailer sailors pfft! tongue.gif

Marlin
Post #125

Haha, I don't need aircon, I'm a man tongue.gif But, if the 15kg or aircon means that much to you, I'll bolt the weight in an still give you a touch up if that makes you feel better? tongue.gif haha

I have driven it to the track on several occasions, but I prefer to traler it, Murphy's Law says it won't break while ever you have a trailer handy wink.gif

FWIW, I still have a set of KU36's here, so it's your call. Get PRO50 onto them too so we don't both look like idiots Harry smile.gif

Lakeside aint a horsepower track boys..... how else can my shitter be faster than a well known 380AWKW Emo 9? lol

How about we have a control car, say, Excels, but we buy 5 between the 4 of us, and have them on rotation, so there's no whinging and bitching about rules, coz they'll all be shit! haha

So we are having the Harry 'n Ben Showdown on Sunday are we, or will it be a Hodown biggrin.gif Sideways -v-Smooth, should be good hsdance.gif

Marlin
Post #139

lol, what I was meaning was;

A few mates and I had spoken for a long time about having our own little "series", well before TA's became a reality.

This is what we would do, and only because we each trust eachother as drivers and know each would hold up their end of the deal. We also have room to store the cars.

This is based on five guys entering.

each person tips in $2000 giving a pool of $10k
with that we buy 6 (SIX) cars @ average 500 each spending 3000 (one of our group has a dealer licence)
Each car gets the same new tyres spending 2400
each car gets a basic half cage spending 1800
each car gets oil service, new filter, and cat back system, spending say, 2000

We have around $800 left over for a busted strut here and there.

Note, we've got SIX cars between five guys, and we number them 1 through 6. Now the most important thing is we rotate through the cars, this week I get car 4, but next round I'll get car 5. So its six rounds before you see the same car again.... therefore there is no reason to be spending money or time on them making them faster. Even better, every time you go to the track, you get to learn the idiosyncrisies of another shitta!

Note we have the spare car which is included in the rotation, in case one becomes broken or crashed. Importantly, every one of the 5 guys tips in equally for repairs to any one of the cars, including if one is written off, so everyone tips in to replace it (say $400).

I understand you guys can't do this type of thing though because most of you don't know eachother well enough, but in essence my idea is to keep it as cheap as possible.

I'll come out Richard if I can use Harry's car. Unfortunately mine's in bits.
