kits for a wrx are less than $2k, bolt off bolt on so installation is DIY.

There is a very big difference between suicide doors, scissor doors and gullwing doors.

Suicide doors open in reverse (like the rear doors on an RX8).
Scissor doors are what we see on lamborghini's etc
Gullwing doors are hinged on the roof and open like the car in Back to the Future.

yes you are sorry , i dont know where some of you get your info from i really dont... i have owned 2 cars now that we had fitted with suicide doors .. and on the drivers side as well... if they are done within ther guidlines all is good ... you still have to have manual handles on the outside ,(always have had to do that no matter what ) the hardest part about the conversion is that if you fabricate the hinges you will have to get them approved ,, if you use pre fabbed hinges the hard work is done .......... as i said rockin rods in beenleigh , have done many , many of these conversions , and never has a drama with any of them!!!!

why the hell do they cost so much?, does that $2000-10000 include mod plates etc..? because that's a frickin expensive door hinge.. and what a couple of hours labour?

its not as easy as u think and a lot more labour than 1hr, its a pain in the ass job cause ther doors are a prick to line up properly, burnin customs have pre fab hinged for aounrd 300 i think, but as nme racing said they r illegal on the driver side and i think now passenger side aswell because if a car hit the door and ur legs out itl chop it off, a bit stupid but the logics there..and i get my info from qld transport not a rod shop

they are legal!!!!!! the one thing you have to use is approved latches ,, in particular , and a locking pin assembly , mine were on electris solenoids so as soon as the central locks went so did the pins ,, and a lot of money for the conversion ????? mate considering the guy doing the mod is taking responsibility for your life , i dont think 2000 is a lot of money at all!!!!!! the rod shops today are far more clued onto what they can and cant do .... ring some ,, they all have access to engineers (and yes mine did include mod plates ) and all the RELEVENT INFO they need to carry out these types of mods !!
