-Panasonic 5400 head unit

-JL VR6oocsi splits

-JL BB12WOP Sub (12in)

-and either a KX650.4 or a KX350.4 amp.

And I do not know what car it is going in yet as i need to choose one first!

yeah got the quote and set up from jb, just tossing up ideas and different gear, and one suggest some stuff. this set up is around the $1600 give or take un-installed

I gather u are talking about Kicker amps. I have the KX600.4 and its money well spent. Get the 650.4 if u can afford it, u can run a nice set of splits and bridge the other channels to run the sub. Although if its just a JL 12W0 sub you'd be seriously overpowering the sub, so keep the gains down. Otherwise get a sub that can handle at least 300WRMS or more.

It will be a lot easier to comment once we know what car you are getting.
As for buying, don't limit your self to one shop, go to diffirent shops for more options on products & system designs.
In that price range you can get brands like Alpine, Eclipse, Rockford Fosgate, Boston Acoustic, Fusion & Clarion.
e.g Alpine CDM-9821 CD/Tuner
Alpine MRV-F340 4chl Amplifier
Alpine SPS171A 6.5" Splits
Alpine SWS1222D 12" Subwoofer

Complete Car Sound
Denning's Car Sound
GCCS
etc etc

and audition all the products until you find the system for you, as once you leave the shop you are the one who has to live with it...

yeah well i have to decide on a car as well! I will be doing some serious looking over the next few weeks. Cars like rexs, 200sx, BMW and the like.
